Once again proving that big muscles, 40 yard dash and bench press doesnt mean anything in the ring.

Banks maintained distance without running. Set a trap and finished.

Disappointing for Seth but Banks is from Michigan and he's a Manny fighter so im happy for him.

    Exactly.

Which is why the 'all the best American HWs are in football' tripe.

Also, any idiots who wanted to see this novice fight the HW champion should be ashamed of themselves.

Always believed this to be the case. Ali, Tyson, Lewis, Wlad, Vitali are very good athletes don't get me wrong but they would be smashed in traditional athletic tests by some NFL players. Yet in the ring conditioning is one small facet of the game.

I admit I wanted to see it until I saw Mitchell throw his first hook tonight. The best athletes do play football and basketball but you have to get em early or it doesnt matter, its a craft, not a weight lifting/jumping contest.

    Totally agree.

Amazing to think he'd had 26 fights prior to tonight and he still looked like a novice.

The American public are desperate to see someone come through, sadly for them there is nobody at heavyweight (Wilder has done **** all). Too much hype on Mitchell for someone so limited.

The division in general though is horrible, it needs Haye back as soon as possible.

I think you miss the point. The claim is not that any old football player can be converted to a boxer at age 25.

The point is that the best athletes choose other sports at a young age and never become boxers.

The fact that Seth Mitchell got as far as he did is a testimony to his strength and athleticism. What he lacked was the skill that is developed over a lifetime of boxing.

  8. Was brilliant how Banks threw the short hooks with full weight by using his legs. Great technique.

Of course it's just a sport you idiots, if you're skilled at a sport you're going to do well in competition. Conditioning and athleticism is just there to allow you to apply your skills efficiently. It can't compensate for skills unless you're a freak athlete ala Roy Jones.

if anyone on these boards have an ounce of common sense (most dont) all you had to do is watch the chazz witherspoon fight...when mitchell cried at the end because he came back and won , it told me that he thought he was lucky to even beat a slow lumbering guy like that .....trainwreck waiting to happen....next train wreck to happen on a smaller scale...Deontay Wilder

A freak athlete that had been boxing since he was 10 and arguably won an Olympic Gold Medal in boxing? Yeah, he has ****all skills.
