Got a fight next month. I was all confident until today morning when I was sparring this new dude who use to do MMA, dropped me.

He was all too quick. Looks like he has a boxing match next month and is going to come to my gym till his fight.

I feel so embarrassed and I lost all my confidence which I was building for my next month's fight.

I don't even feel like getting back at him in the next session which I should be feeling right? hmmm

Keep your guard up, a lot of mma guys just go primarily for the head. Use your footwork, and work your jab, soften him up with bodyshots, and after a couple of rounds, spark him out cold!..you'll feel a lot better after that!

Why the **** is everyone telling the op do spark the guy out?
You got caught big deal! Man up and learn from this. Better get dropped sparring then in a real fight.

It's sad that most boxers think that all MMA guys are complete **** when it comes to striking ability. There's a large percentage of these guys that were pro boxers before they chose to go the way of MMA.

Being dropped by an MMA fighter is nothing to be ashamed of.

Being dropped, period, is nothing to be ashamed of. Doesn't matter who's at the other end. **** happens. You're in there to learn. You don't want this to happen often, but you will get tagged even when you continually grow. As of now, you know not to underestimate a punch or overestimate your skills. Work on it.

So what mate. anyone can get dropped.

Had my first fight last week got dropped twice!! more embarrasing than anything, just got upand carried on. We can all learn from these experiences, ive been looking at why i got dropped, e.g. dropping my right hand, not tucking chin in, nerves!!

Im only a one fight novice though so sorry if these seems patronising just that it seems like your saying its your first fight. And i have extensive experience of getting put on my arse considering the time ive spent in the ring!!!!

Anyway, its made me more determined to improve, and look at small positives like at least i got up, carried on fighting. let it spur you on to improve.

I shouldn't have whined like this. My bad. I posted this when I was still under the shame cloud. Now that it has passed, I realize, its not about being caught and dropped.

I have got caught and have been dropped few times before, which did not disturb me, but this time I froze before this guy as he had better hand speed than mine (which is unusual to me). I was unable to slip or work my way through. I simple was standing there which caused the embarrassment. +, two attempts I made, One hit him back of his head and the other was nearly a low blow. People where giving me advises, left, right and center as though I don't know that's wrong. And there went my confidence.

I'm in a better position to think now and will see how it goes in this week. Thanks and apologize guys, for the whining, I mean.

The intensity that MMA fighters bring to a fight is much more different to that that Boxers and the like are used to, hence why MMA'ers have had massive success in K-1.
