Congratulations to Broner, but how the hell did Demarco become WBC champ?

Think about it. Broner left the 130 division without ever really taking on the best in the division, citing that he grew out of the weight. Now, he moves up to 135...quite conveniently, considering all the best fighters at lightweight have moved up to 140. So now he finds himself possibly the best guy in a very weak lightweight division, possibly the weakest in recent memory. He won't move up to 140 until either A)They've all beaten up each other in wars or B)The top guys either move up to Welter or retire.

It's a page right out of the Mayweather playbook. Right?

Broner beat a journeyman level fighter with a belt and nothing more

DeMarco has no skills, no ring IQ and overrated power, he has toughness and little else. He's also a fake mexican and a quitter. Somehow he fooled a lot of people into thinking he was a decent champion.

he has skills but they are very much in that one dimension, he gave Broner everything

not good to judge a guy over 1 fight when he is fighting someone much more talented than he is.

I guess you fancy his chances against the light-welters?

    Demarco? Hell no.

OP said this the 1st time he seen him fight, I don't think its fair to judge a guy if you only seen 1 fight. To me thats like watching Ward-Froch and then calling Froch a bum.

Nah mate I'm talking about Broner, in the light-welters, should he bypass Burns and Vazquez which I hope he doesn't cus I'd love to see Burns/Broner

I think its too soon for him to make the jump to 140. At this stage I would favor Lucas against him, and wouldn't be surprised if Garcia beat him. As for as Rios I always thought Broner would box circles around him,so nothing change there.

I hope he sticks around 135 for at least 2 more fights, grow into his body a little more before he makes the jump.

I hope so too, I'd love the Burns fight, I think if Broner unified against Burns and Vazquez, then he would have my utmost respect without a doubt

    How is its simple.

The lightweight division at this very moment is the worst its ever been.

Yes ever this is the worst top 10 at any stage through out the whole Lightweight generations.

Ring has the ranking as follows

    1. Adrien Broner (25-0-0) WBC
    2. Miguel Vazquez (32-3-0) IBF
    3. Antonio DeMarco (28-3-1)
    4. Ricky Burns (35-2-0) WBO
    5. Richard Abril (17-3-1) Lost WBA to vacating Rios
    6. Gavin Rees (37-1-1)
    7. Sharif Bogere (23-0-0)
    8. Kevin Mitchell (33-2-0)
    9. John Murray (31-2-0)
    10. Ray Beltran (26-6-0)

That is the very woeful state of 135 at the moment.

If and when Broner goes up he has his first real challenge against Elite guys that would Own 135 if still there.
140 is Packed and if Broner wants to be the next PBF like he thinks he needs to fight guys like

    Bradley
    Marquez
    Garcia
    Matthysse
    Judah
    Rios
    Khan
    Peterson

Just a name a few and if any of those names were at 135 they would be top dog.

135 is the worst its ever been.

DeMarco beats the living **** out of any lightweight not named Broner.

Vazquez and Burns both beat him handilly and I'm quite shocked to learn how many people think De Marco was the best lightweight

Well Id favour Burns if he fought DeMarco and it just shows you how ****ing weak 135 is at the moment.

see now Rios got slapped around by Abril who is number 5 at lightweight by your own post, so why the **** does he get so much credit as a top light-welter when hes already lost to a mid-table lightweight in one of the worst state lightweight rankings in history according to you?

    dont be rediculous

I am not convinced at all lets see what happens when he steps up to 140 and gets that chin rocked.

If he waits as an above poster said for everyone at 140 to move up or have wars and get jaded we know whats up.

I have a feeling this is whats going to happen here so you can forget Broner vs any top 140lb any time soon.
