If steward had taken over as Bowes trainer in 1991, would Steward have been able to mold Bowe into a better fighter than Lewis and Wladimir?

    Doubt it.

Bowe did not have the mentality of a champion that Lewis/Wlad have.

I think with guidance of steward both in and outside the ring he would have been more serious about his career.

Motivation comes from within not from external influence. While Steward was a great trainer so was Eddie Futch who quit on Bowe in 96 after he realised Bowe was no longer dedicated to the sport like he should have been.

Bowe had Eddie Futch, it doesnt get much better than that

if you dont have discipline and you cant maintain the top with a guy like Futch i dont know who can

maybe somebody like Teddy Atlas could discipline this guy

Futch is/was a better trainer than Steward & there's no way Bowe would ever have fought like Lennox or Wlad, staying patient behind a jab & clinching a lot.

Bowe had the greatest trainer of all time.. it was his discipline that was his undoing..

    Agreed!
Lewis and W. Klitchko never had motivational issues, Bowe did. I dont see anything Steward could have done to change that.

Futch got tired of Bowe marching to his own drummer and dumped him after Bowe had beaten Holyfield.

Both Wlad and Lewis needed their game tweaked. They were not as skilled or as evolved as fighters as Bowe was and thats where Steward came in to help in that.
Bowe was a complete two fisted fighter with a great jab and a terrific right hand. Skillwise there was'nt much tweaking for Steward to work with Bowe with.

I believe that a fighters hunger to do everything thats necessary to be the best comes from within. Thats something that cant be taught. You either have it or you dont. Bowe simply did not!
