Yep, every time I've said "Ricky Hatton's fighting soon" to someone, they've replied "Is he?", when normally they'd know. Should definitely have been on Sky, would have been much bigger.

The coverage and publicity for such a big event has been awful.

There has been far more attention paid to the Flintoff fight for Gods Sake!

Sky are running three one hour documentaries on Freddie (on primetime Sky One).

Channel 5 are running a Hatton documentary at about midnight on Thursday!

Big mistake to go with Primetime IMO.

Not because of any dislike for Primetime, I just feel that a fight of this size should have been promoted and shown by a more well known and respected network.

Say what you like but nobody can deny that this fight is not getting the sort of publicity one would expect.

    Why is this?! :huh

I think he'll go back to Sky hat in hand after it bombs on Primetime.

it annoys me that the casual boxing fan thinks that the only british boxers of note are froch, brook, barker, frampton and purdy, the only non matchroom fighter the casual fan speaks of is price and thats because of sky coverage and an audley fight, even he is now endanger of falling off the radar.

****ing purdy and barker the future of british boxing, this sky/matchroom monopoly is not good.

I don't think it's so much about primetime or whatever, it's just that in the last 3-4 year more people have finally twigged on how much a tiresome fraud Hatton is, all this self-pity pish recently etc.

He should have sold his ego/pride and cashed out with Sky. The Sky treatment adds about 100,000 buys alone (for Hatton only obviously). Primetime don't have the budget to advertise on other channels or during peak time programmes (x-factor and that shite).

Sky can throw a lot of money at that sort of promotion. Sky ****ed him off but business is cut throat, you should never take anything personal in business. Will he be a **** when he has to **** one off his fighters off?

I agree with this, Sky made a huge mistake (for boxing not themselves) when they jumped into a long term relationship with Matchroom.

Didn't Haye and Fraudley mess up the Sky Sports PPV option for everyone else.

sky talk more about other fights than BN and Bunce. Bunce barley even previews the US fights they have.

  12. Sky might argue that if it wasnt for our media machine hyping the fight Hatton would have made nowhere near the money he did

Both helped each other when it came to making the coin

  13. Even boxnation would have pushed this fight hard

    Primetime do a **** job

Blimey there are some right ladyboys on this site..are primetime really that bad?? The only thing I'm annoyed about is the non HD but then BN aren't HD yet and that's a dedicated channel!

If there was a way to prove it I would bet hard cash that the majority of posters claiming they wont be paying for the fight end up doing so after caving in at the last minute but they won't admit to it. Sure there will be alot of us who try for a reliable stream only for the screen to start buffering constantly so they bit the bullet and press the book button on the remote...
