Andre S.O.G. Ward would have given prime RJJ FITS and outpoint him 10-2 / 9-3

Stylistic nightmare for Ward... I can not think of any way he could beat a Prime Jones at 168.. He has never fought anyone with the speed and power combination of Roy.

And to the OP that said Ward is "too fast" for Roy, are you joking?

I don't see that. Roy was a bigger SMW than Ward. He was faster and had punchin power in both hands. Ward might be rougher on the inside than Roy but I can't see him gettin inside on Roy and stayin there long enuf for it to matter. Ward might test him a lil bit but I'd definitely take Roy on points.

Ward's roughness on the inside, jabs, right hooks, footwork gives Roy a good boxing lesson.

    9-3 or 10-2 beatdown.

I disagree. RJJ is just the type of guy that would give Ward hell a superior athlete with faster hands and better reflexes. Think of it as RJJ-Hopkins 1 or RJJ-Toney all over again and we all know how that ended.:deal

    That'd be true with Froch/Kessler.

But Ward's inside game is too much for Roy, Roy has never dealt with someone as good as Andre SOG Ward.

Never dealt with a beast with a vicious inside game like him (Besides Calzaghe and Calzaghe gave him a ****ing schooling of a lifetime)

Roy CAN'T FIGHT vicious rough inside fighters, that's a fact.

Nah I disagree. RJJ was the master of dictating distance and while Ward is great at this as well, he would be out manuvered by Jones who had superior foot speed. Not to mention the edge in reach hand speed power and reflexes. He would have Ward shelled up unable to get off and when he tired to get inside he would get picked apart and Roy would be gone. Roy's ATG athletic ability would be too much for Ward here, he's the definition of a stylistic nightmare for Ward if there ever was one.:deal

I'll disagree with this too, yes it is evident that RJJ's hand speed is faster than Ward's, I'm going to disagree with reflexes/foot speed. If you watched Ward fight Abraham/Bika/Froch, you could see insane speed coming in and out of the pocket, dictating distance like a God. Ward is insanely fast for a super middle, with great ring generalship.

It would be an outboxing lesson.

And it's not like Ward is feather fisted, you can't knock Dawson out with feather fists. He BROKE HIS HAND 6 days before his fight with Froch, and that could be a reason that he couldn't finish that fight. But then again probably not, Froch has an IRON chin.

I don't think he's a stylistic matchup for Ward, I think the opposite. Roy has never fought an inside fight with as much skill as Ward (Possibly Calzaghe and he couldn't deal with it at all).

What you fail to realize is that the fight wouldn't be fought on the inside it would be fought on the outside. Ward would have to go through hell eating hooks trying to get inside. I just don't see him being able to pull it off consistantly against a guy with quicker feet faster hands better reflexes and a master at dictating distance.

Ward is too featherfisted to even bother glass jawed RJJ.

And Calzaghe would wipe the snoot out of Ward's nose.

    MVC,

What makes you think 168 Roy is gonna stand there and fight Ward on the inside? One of Roy's best attributes were his amazing foot speed, the way he could get in and out of danger, while unleashing a great deal of damage.

James Toney was a defensive master, and was clueless and dumbfounded a lot of the time as to where Jones was even coming from.

I see the fight going similar to Jones-Toney... Except I would probably give Ward a couple more rounds than Toney, who I really had to try hard to pick a single round to give him.

Ward's reflexes/foot speed/Boxing IQ completely trumps RJJ's and you can take that to the bank. And Roy has a GLASS CHIN, I can see him weakening after getting hit with a few left straights by Ward.

He's also a MUCH better technical boxer than he is with great head movement

He can movement around the hooks and completely thrash RJJ on the inside. It will be a easy fight for Son of God. RJJ's inside fighting was atrocious man and Ward would find a way to get to him.

    Tough fight to call.

Prime RJJ is just too tough to call against! As good as Ward is.

    Who knows
