What does Ward need to do to become an ATG?

Calzaghe was avoided by many of the top guys in the division Ottke , Hopkins etc and others only fought him when they had less to lose.

Ward is fortunate that such a tourney like the Super six came about, otherwise he`d most probably of had to fight in europe to get his world title, and as i said before its strange how ward got all his wishes met pre tourney.

Ward had 2 champs fight him at home how lucky and privileged he was hey, he will not get respect from me until he returns the favour which he got through political means.

Theres a lurking sourness that i cant dismiss

Yes Ward's been lucky to date. Goosen has gotten him hometown advantages, and he was lucky that Showtime hosted the event.

But the point is, Ward doesn't have to travel. He's already beaten the best fighters at 28.

Joe had to travel. He wasn't well known until he was 34 in 2006.

Both stayed at home, but the circumstances are different. Joe didn't have the opportunities that Andre has had, so that's why he had to travel.

hi mate, I've been reading your posts with interest. I can't say how you say Ward has no need to travel? All his best available opponents are in Europe, Froch, Kessler, and soon George Groves as well. There's no-one in America at 168 or 175, nobody at all. Guys like Kessler and Froch are earning more in Europe.

Let me ask you this, do you think Deontay Wilder, or Seth Mitchell, or Eddie Chambers never have to travel because they're in the mecca of boxing? Are the Klitschko's merely fringe paper champions because they don't fight in the mecca of boxing? The SMW division is based in Europe like with the HW's

 

He already fought and beat both of them, and didn't have to go to Europe to do it. :deal

He's already close to being an ATG, all he needs to do is grab the IBF title and give people a real lesson on how to dominate a division after unification. Holding on to a paper title for a decade fighting bums is not the way to unify.

 

Hopkins was a middleweight, so how was he in his "division" exactly? As far as I remember, it wasn't Hopkins, Jones Jr. and others that had issues with airplanes in their primes, hopefully you remember that too. And hopefully you also remember how it all of a sudden became physically normal to travel after Jones Jr. and Hopkins were years past their primes and senior citizens at best.

 

Is that a decent fight? Is Pavlik a top SMW?
