Just wondering if anyone had any rough figures for what certain events/fights got on box office. Didn't Hatton v Mayweather and Haye v Harrison get over a million buys?

I'm wondering this because someone mentioned that Hatton will be lucky if he gets 80-100k buys on primetime.

they never release exact numbers but

Hatton vs Mayweather did almost 2million
Haye vs Harrison did just over a million
Haye vs Valuev/Ruiz/Wlad did around 800k (yes Wlad did less that Harrison)

this is from what i remember reading from various sources.

If sky were showing this it would be everywhere and everyone would be talking about it.

I see many scenarios when the papers start talking about the fight and when the casuals go to Sky Box Office to order....

    Suddenly it is not there!

They search around and finally find Primetime, and give up due to the hassle.

A non-title ten rounder is not worth £15.

Looking back, Khan - Judah got 70 thousand +, so I say this gets maybe 250k buys, based on the lack of hype and channel

I think people under estimate how much of a pull Harrison is in the UK. For all the crap fights he has had and how annoying he is he can put people in seats and get them interested regardless of who he is fighting. Haye would of been an idiot not to make that fight.

Even though Audley is a name etc I'm astonished him v Haye did a million buys!

Wasn't Khan v Judah on Sky Sports? Thought it was Khan v McCloskey which was on Primetime

There's definitely a (low) ceiling when you run outside the established networks.
In honesty, I think it limits you to hardcore Boxing heads.

The Haye ones have always been interesting to me. Not saying, I do or don't believe the numbers, I think there's every chance they could have generated that much interest. I just have a hard time believing that Sky would have withdrawn from Boxoffice had it been spinning that type of money for them.

I struggle to believe a lot of those numbers, when you consider the record in America is 2.4million ( mayweather/de la Hoya) how the hell could Ricky hatton have got nearly 2 million for a fight at 3 or 4 in the morning.

Granted the cost is cheaper over here and more people watch in bars in the us because of the time but those hatton and haye numbers are Incredible if true.
