Ward is better than Kessler and Froch, beat them comfortably.

However, I do think he should think about going Europe just because he can and still win while making alot of money as a Froch Ward fight would make alot more in the UK than it would in the US same for a Kessler fight, there is no one decent at 175 for him to fight and Froch and Kessler are #2 and #3 in the division.

I don't see it as ducking if he doesn't, to be honest I don't really care that much about the location because fighting either of them is a good fight.

unconscionable behavior from the Dirrell Bros. Unbelievable. I've heard that similar shenanigans went on in Oakland before the Kessler fight.

Some of the replies in this thread are ridiculous.

Course he doesn't 'have' to do anything as some sensible people have pointed out.

Let's go through this in stages:

    a) He fights in a tournament where all his fights are in his home country (note I didn't say 'at home' for everyone who'll moan about the size of the states and distances involved in travelling etc.), and has TWO World Champions contractually obliged to bring their belts over to defend them. His fans are now somehow claiming that because he's the champion, he shouldn't have to travel. Which is a bit hypocritical really.

    b) If the BEST fights in his division are rematches, why shouldn't he take them, rather than fighting bums? And having said that, why not return the favour, and have a return match where HE takes the belt to another country. Whether he'd win or not is irrelevant really, it's a matter of honour to some degree. And he'd silence any remaining critics.

    c) his last fight was to, what, 7,500 people? HBO or not, people need to realise he's no natural superstar, and will NOT appeal to many casual fans. This is why travelling to the back yards of entertaining fighters will actually make him more money AND give him better exposure.

    d) IF he wins these rematches, then threads like this would stop appearing, and a lot of people - I genuinely believe - would give him his dues, and e would have done everything that could reasonably be asked of him.

Of course, if all that happens, AND he wins, then potentially there really are no fights out there in either SMW or LHW, that would generate any interest or give any further insight into his potential All-Time-Greatness. The problem would then be that the best fighter in the division wouldn't be involved in any good fights.

Reality is that Froch and Kessler will always have more die hard (and casual) fans than Ward, and regardless of his ability, they will do more for the popularity of the sport of boxing than he ever will. Because he's a boring fighter, not a superstar character, and what's worse is that in a sport that mixes business and entertainment, he doesn't give a single ****. He should have fought Bute before Froch did, but he didn't give a **** about things like unifying the division - which is something casual fans would take interest in - and that boat has now well and truly sailed. He'll probably miss out to Froch on a Kessler rematch, which will generate more interest than he could dream of. Froch will probably beat Kessler (possibly even stop him), and the ONLY match left for him at that point will be a rematch with Froch. And the shame of all that is that Froch is the kind of guy that will hunt him down, and go to Oakland if needs be to fight him, because redeeming himself, and unifying the division are things that matter to guys like Froch, and that is why he is, in my opinion, 10 times the fighter (not boxer) and champion than Ward will ever be.

This reminds me of the sour grape posts after the Hatton fight. How Hatton still had more fans blah blah blah.

In 20 years Ward will probably be remembered as an ATG like Mayweather. While Froch will be largely forgotten and irrelevant like Hatton.

Lets wait 20 years before saying how Ward or Froch will be remembered, because they've still got years left in them and either of them could go on to achieve great things or stagnate. We dont know what will happen in the future, nobody does, and no one can say for sure how any of the current boxers will be remembered.

Yeah, it basically won't quit until Ward fights abroad. Fortunately he doesn't give a **** about what a rabid group of fans slavering at each other on the internet think and it won't influence his thinking unduly.

I don't think fans care about influencing ward. At the end of the day any fighter that undoubtedly seeks to benefit constantly via the advantages gained through politics within the sport will always get stick for it. Conducting his career in this way is his choice.

And if Andre didn't give a **** then why was it all over his twitter just hours before the froch mack fight? Doesn't sound like a fighter completely comfortable with how things are at present.

Finally I should add that Kessler was promised a shot at the s6 winner when he had to pule out with the eyeinjury and subsequent events showed that Kessler would most likely have made it to the final.

But Ward will probably just stay at home fighting concentrationcamp victims and alchoholics. :hi:
