If Dana stands behind this, I can almost 100% guarantee, there WILL be TONS of friction between him and Joe Rogan. I can't wait to hear Joe's commentary on the next PPV. If you've ever listened to Rogan speak, you'll know how passionate he is about dope. He is one of the most enlightened 'celebrities' today regarding this issue. Trust me, it will be a very tough decision to him to either support what he feels and knows is right, or lie and keep his job (keeping quiet on the subject is akin to lieing). Does anyone know if Joe is tweeting anything or what Dana's stance is on this?
I can see and still respect Joe for agreeing with the suspension because pot is against the rules, like kicking a downed opponent. But rehab for cannabis?? What a waste of money. Have Thiago go on a cross-country tour of high schools and talk about drug abuse (it is still illegal, and it would suck for a kid to get busted with pot ruining his life, the only real dangerous side effect of dope being getting caught anyway), or do exhibitions for sick kids, or dying people, anything but waste money and time on rehab. If Joe is who he says he is, he'll have something to say.
Dana doesn't make the rules, so I don't think he will care what Joe says about the athletic commission.
What does Joe Rogan's job as a fight commentator have to do with this? I'm sure he'll have plenty to say about it on his podcast the JRE. There is no invisible line in the sand demanding that Rogan stick up for pot smokers everywhere on the next broadcast or he'll be a traitor to the cause. He's there to call the fights. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Rogan might have an opinion on affects of dope giving little advantage but he knows rules are rules. Silva is to be penalized He's not crying because some pride rules are punishable in ufc.
