Foreman was out for years recovering mentally, because he could not take the Young loss, simple. why is that so difficult for you to understand?

Foreman didnt see a boxing glove, but he was out and enjoying himself for 10 years. He was also active for a couple of years and had numerous fights before he fought Holyfield. Tyson had barely done 8 full rounds in 5 years.

Being out and free regardless of how long, is better than being caged up for 5 years.

Watch the video of Foreman trying to 'prove himself' atfer the Ali loss by fighting 5 bums in one night and tell me Foreman wasnt mentally ****ed.

    He had 3 great things
-Winning the olympic gold medal after 1 and a half years of boxing with 20 amateur fights
    -Beating the undefeated Joe Frazier
-Winning the title in his comeback

If he didn't have the most impressive feat in history he has atleast a few that were great.....

-He actually left boxing because he had a ''religious experience'' and was done with boxing he didn't care about boxing after that.

-What are you on about Foremans first fight was 10 years after he retired in the 70's.... He went 10 years without a fight without training. Tyson trained in prison. Tyson had barely done 8 full rounds in 5 years. What's worse a guy who kept in shape and had fought 8 rounds before holyfield or an old fat guy who had been off for 10 years fighting a prime Holyfield who didn't knock George out, although somehow an supposedly over the hill Holyfiel with heart problems beat Tyson by tko, hmm

-It dosent matter if your free or caged up Foreman had more time off affecting his skills he previously had and his physical fitness aswell

-I've seen this video alot before and do you really want to be posting videos about who was more mental out of Mike Tyson and Foreman, Mike was a crazy mother ****er and had alot more mental issues due to his childhood he bit Evander Holyfield i dont care headbutts whatever he bit a man, raped a girl, tried to break Francois Bothas arms, what did Foreman do?, knock out 5 guys in one night ooooooh keep him away from me he sounds off his head ! WHAT THE HELL WAS FOREMAN doing it's almost as if his job is to knock guys out :patsch

And if you think George left boxing after the Jimmy Young fight and had mental issues because of it you shouldn't be commenting on a thread with George Foreman in it because you obviously know nothing about him, watch a documentary or two on him and learn abit about how he supposedly saw god and preached for 10 years.....

They had separate careers and aren't really comparable. Foreman in no way had been off for ten years before Holy tho. He was over 20 fights into the comeback.

Weight is always a factor, but back when men had thirty seconds to recover from knockdowns (either from a blow or throw), things tended to get dragged out, allowing for multiple current shifts. It is also true that agility often negated strength.

One need only reference Sayers vs. Heenan to appreciate this.

It is arguable that the slender built Jem Belcher was the ultimate fighting machine in a scrap to the finish. During the height of the London Prize Rules, back when there were plenty of 200lbs men, he was near insufferable.

George has the tools to prosper (theoretically), but that he would simply smite away his rugged ancestors is more silly than wishful.

Sayers versus Heenan is actually a bad reference to site for your point. True, Sayers has some reputation as a middleweight giant killer fighting heavyweights but John C. Heenan only had four formal fights losing two and drawing one with Sayers. That means out of his four total fights he only won once. Hardly a victory worth crowing about for a true professional boxer such as Sayers was. Then the fight ended in the forty second round after supporters of Sayers rushed the ring when Heenan looked to be getting the upper hand. If he gained a draw it's against a lowly near amateur opponent, but it looks like he might have been on his way to a loss.

Tom Sayers' victory over William Perry who had about 11 fights, mostly wins, was 6' 1/2" tall, 185 pounds, and 38 years old is somewhat more impressive. At least Perry had a winning record, even if he was old.

Your always talking about hip tossing, don't you think if Foreman was a bareknuckle fighter he would learn how to hip toss aswell.... And because of his size and his strength which i think he was one of the most powerful fighters ever would just overpower John L alot of the time and even when he did get hip tossed by John L don't you think Foreman would do it right back....

In general terms, the best LPR fighters seem to have been about the same size as Rocky Marciano.

There were guys around the size of Foreman and even Lewis, but it is hard to be sure whether they did not get to the top because their size did not suit them to the rule set, or simply because they were not very good.
