The Worst Fight I Have Ever Seen! = Guerrero vs Berto!

The dirtiest fighter is Hopkins. Yet people rant and rave about what he has accomplish. You want to see a horrible boring dirty fight, look up some of Hopkins fight.

 

Klitschko - Ibragimov was worse.

this fight was anything but boring... it was dirty BUT within the rules of boxing... excellent VERY INTERESTING FIGHT. Showed heart and the will to win under any circumstance. It was a dirty fight... by BOTH fighters. Berto hitting the back of ghost head shouldn't be brushed aside when trying to see who was dirtiest. Both of Berto's eyes were closed and one of Ghost... and ghost said he couldnt see. fight of the year..prob not, but most brutal of the year... YES.

It was'nt the worst. There was some entertaining value in it. I never sensed either fighter was out of the possibility of winning.

The ref however was atrocious. He let Guerrero get away with punching away with his free hand as he held Berto with his other hand.
Sure there was holding on both sides, but Guerrero I thought was out of hand with wrapping his right hand around Berto's left hand and taking away his hook in that matter.
The ref said nothing early while Guerrero held and punched, but passed the midpoint when Guerrero's head was burried on Berto's chest, and Berto took a hald step back to sneak in right hand crosses that were finding the mark, the ref all of a sudden stops Berto from thowing those right hand crosses that were being so effective.

Max Kellerman was correct in that instance, Berto was finding the mark with those right hands and the times Berto landed on the back of the head was because Guerrero would see the shot coming and lower and turn his head resulting in the punch landing to the back of his head.
Guerrero's fault, not Berto's. A similar thing happened in the first Peter vs Wlad fight, when Peter was being admonished for throwing a perfectly good right hand that would otherwise find the mark if Wlad did'nt ride his head and turned it so that they land to the back of his head instead of his glass jaw.

The ref imo was not on top of things. He reminded me of a WWE ref who was purposely ignoring fouls by Guerrero.

It turned out to be a good fight, but I thought it had the ingriedients and the making of a great fight has the ref been more in charge and actually known what to do as far as warning Guerrero to take points away for wrapping his arm around Berto's.

Not to the great extent of John Ruiz, but Guerrero tore a page from Ruiz' playbook I felt.

 

Yes there was alot of holding going on but there was also alot of action as well.

The worst thing for me was that, for the most part, Guerrero wasn't even really "fighting on the inside." He was simply leaning against Berto, and throwing little patty-punches to rack up points. Berto seemed clueless on what to to. He should have pushed the ****er off then fired mid-range shots, but instead he just stood there taking it.

Ugly and boring. There were enough small, hard uppercuts from both men to keep you watching, but that wasn't a boxing match at all.

The HBO crew totally embarrassed themselves by raving on how great a fight it was.

 

It was a pretty ugly fight to watch but it was still entertaining. It was not FOTY by as stretch but both guys showed a lot of heart and the action was sustained the entire fight. It's better than watching tactical fights where the two fighters don't even land on each other but hold the entire fight.

 

Right on! If I want to watch the UFC, I'll watch the UFC. Guerrero doesn't deserve a big pay day for that cheap performance. The Hatton fight was much better.
