Robinson was too small to stay at light heavyweight.

Fighting Maxim was the best chance he had at winning a light heavyweight title and came up short.

it would be a one-shot deal.

SRR would be defending the 160 title afterwards.

I don't think it'd add much. I'm personally astonished just as much as if he had officially won. He was winning by a big margin.

Archie Moore was Maxim's next fight. Based on this we can assume that he'd been next for Robinson too.

Robinson and Moore sat down to talk about a fight when Robinson came back from retirement. Moore wanted 50%, Robinson offered 30%, Moore asked his wife to get his coat and walked away

Moore / Charles grade fighters were too big for SRR.

They had equal skills, more power, and were bigger fighters.

Ray would've fought Moore, and been knocked out in the ninth round.

I doubt he would have fought Archie Moore.
Probably would have fought Maxim again, and then Danny Nardico , maybe a 7th fight with LaMotta, perhaps Bobo Olson. 3rd match with Turpin.

He'd be more likely to take on Marciano for the heavyweight championship than give Moore a shot at his new title, I would imagine.

I read somewhere that if Robinson had won, that he was heading for a bout with Marciano, amazing if that were true.
