Considering his flaws as a fighter, in addition to the demons he has dealt with and time spent outside of the squared circle, I would have truly been amazed had ricky walked away the victor.

he's not superman. i'm no boxing expert but common sense is common sense. he should've taken a tuneup, or two, or three, before ever stepping in there with a welterweight of senchenko's caliber. losing 70 pounds after a three and a half year hiatus from the sport and subsequently stepping in the ring with a world rated welterweight simply is not a smart decision. it was a costly decision by rick and an end to his comeback, right where it began as a result.

Yeah, everybody knows that now because he lost. He was a betting favourite going in for a reason. If he'd won, everybody would be saying good move. If he fought a tomato can everyone would be saying he beat a nobody.

    Hindsight, 20-20, etc.

I agree. Kind of a reckless move by Hatton.. Got to admire his will though

simply put, not me. I would've been shocked if he won with no controversy.

I'd also say: now he knows. If he'd beaten up some nobody but looked like **** there would have been another fight. I think he fought the fight he needed, a fight where he found out if he was anything like what he used to be, a guy he should have beaten but couldn't. He looked horrible and got beat up without getting sparked again.

Had a feeling he was going to lose it was a dumb decision to return but this was something he had to do for himself, he's done it and now he knows so maybe he can move on with his life, he's got to be admired for getting back up and having another go at it, but yes was a dumb decision.

I got a question, who has senchenko beat to even be consider a real good one of the top ww fighters? That guy before losing to paulie didnt even beat anybody worth a damn so in saying hatton really did fought in a tune up fight. Senchenko is nothing to brag about and this guy in all his fights before facing paulie only fought in the ukraine.

The guy couldn't cope seeing other fighters getting adulation that he felt partly belonged to him. It's a bit like when SRL used to do broadcasts and think how much better he was than the main attraction.
I think finishing on his back has had a profound negative effect on him,and he thought he could bury it,but now he has to face the fact that all those nights out and binges between camps are to be paid for.
Quite worried for him, despite his protestations that he's ok.Wasn't a fan because he was a great boxer, but because he was a good guy.

i spent 180 quid for 2 tickets and felt sorry for him on fight night. It has been replaced by being a bit pissed off that they built it up like they did, saying he was looking back to his best etc. They must have known he was shot in training. Thanks for the memories Ricky apart from saturday night, a truly awful fight.

Hatton has been all about the money for a long time, surely you don't STILL believe the 'i'm raring to go, it's all for me fans's' spiel??

This fight was mainly about trying to revive his flagging promotional company, in my opinion.

Hatton is the most fun that British fans have had - ever.

Hopping onto what was, in my eyes, a quite clearly floundering band-wagon was absolutely reasonable and nobody should feel had.

Well, he admitted it was a bit reckless and risky too, in the post-fight interview...

At least he was definitely ambitious lol.... but he took the loss like a man. He said he wanted a fast route back to the top for the reason of a risky fight like this. Since he considers himself to be one of the elites still, this was a reasonable risk.

Unfortunately, he's just not going too far with the style and lack of technique he has. Wished he did take weaker fights and maintain his large fanbase, the boxing world needs his base (really could use more altogether)

Was up there for the fight, great atmosphere.. But kind of to be expected.

Feel for Ricky, but he should be happy knowing that he has a fanbase like no other in the sport.

No fighter gets what he gets, and he has accomplished so much anyway when you consider where he came from

Had a good time anyway, but Ricky wasnt on form, swinging wildly looked out of the fight from about the 4th round.

Dont feel had at all just saying he was ****ing shocking, legs had gone, power had gone, speed had gone.Im more chastising myself for wasting 200 quid when i could have stayed in and played with myself.

And do shut up Betty, ****in obsessed by a fighter you dont even like, whats it all about ?
