This guy has UDed Chauncy Welliver in his 5th fight and is now facing Solomon Haumono (19-1) in his 6th !!! Real deal ?
A former kickboxer, looks like nothing special to me, nothing special to say the least. Only 6'0 in height too. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2edT7NEcW4Q[/ame] He looks horrible here actually. Any mediocre counter puncher would be rocking his head back like a speedbag every 10 seconds in between outbursts of laughter. Or am I too harsh?
His opponent in the video is hilariously bad. That said. Lets not judge his potential on this video as no boxing is taking place there.
Who knows, that boxer could be the first of a long series.... Boxing is becoming ever more international, and the more various the fighters nationality, the more numerous viewers and fans, so i'm glad even Japan has someone to look for, or just as an ispiration.
Tillman was KO'd in 1 round by Sonny Bill Williams, so I won't give him any credit for that win. He did look pretty good against Welliver but he's far too small to have any real impact at HW.
Too small for heavyweight--he should move to cruiserweight for better more exciting fights. His fans in Japan won't notice the difference.
Nothing special, but he can potentially be a huge draw if he manages to keep on winning. He's already fairly popular in Japan from his k-1 days. He has decent power, if you look at some of his kickboxing fights you can see that. He knocked out Peter Aerts and Melvin Manhoef with right hooks. I think any great HW beats him, but if he improves a little and his promoters handle him well MAYBE he could get a title shot in the next year or 2, a HW title fight in the Tokyo dome with a Japanese fighter v.s the champion(probably still Wlad would be HUGE)
