It's also worth noting that during the fight, at the beggining of the second round, Larry Merchant (a man who's opinion I trust a great deal more than Leaderman) said 'Marquez could be looking at a 10-6 in the first round), implying that the round could be a 10-6, but not a definite. Says to me again, that it's not always a common thing.

If you really wanna get technical a knockdown counts as 2 points,so shouldn't it be considered a 10-4 round?

Not really in a 10-8 round you get one point for winning the round and one point for the knockdown.

it should be 10-6. it's not hard to do basic math. if they don't go any lower than 10-7, it could lead to controversial score cards at the end of the fight if the fighter who was knocked down comes back in a big way. just like it was for the first pac - marquez fight. it's just stupid and unnecessary.

the same goes for not scoring any even rounds.... no wonder there is so many ****ed up cards at the end of fights.

:yikes how long have you been a boxing fan for? a knock down is only one point, not two.

Not really. but one thing could be considered is a 10-5 round. if fighter A dominated fighter B, it can be scored 10-8 without being knockdowned. so a 3 knockdown round could be scored 10-5 as well if one fighter was dominated enough and was k'downed thrice?

Yes Sir. An unwritten rule if you will.

Most judges don't go below 10-7, as it puts the other guy too far down the hole.

the reasoning is kind of ******ed. if the 3 knockdowns happened in the later rounds and the fighter was lagging behind in the card, the 10-6 score could have given him the chance to win the fight. that reasoning would help secure the win for the other fighter.

No that wouldn't be possible, a round scored as a two pointer because of lopsidedness would still be a 10-8 if there was a knockdown added to it

That would mean a round that has one fighter dominating and then scoring a KD would be a 10-7

    That's too far

Judges dont even have to score a knockdown as a point if they dont want to remember

but it should be 10 6 imo

also pls remember that you never have to usually go less than 10-7

cause some orgs have auto 3 kd in a round stoppage

and most refs would stop that anyway

    10-6
3 knock downs (3 points) and with those knock downs clearly must be dominating the round so a point for that too

The judge can do whatever he wants.

Regarding Pac/JMM I, If he wanted to discredit the third KD because Pac hit him while he was down and could have technically had a point taken away for it to nullify the KD on the scorecards, he could have done so.
