Not with that defense if Penalosa was a banger Juanma may have tasted the canvas ..

too early to tell imo. juanma definitely has the tools though..

it's also time he starts fighting the likes of caballero or elite level guys like izzy and rafa(if there's still something left in them). those fights would also pretty much tell us where he really is in terms of p4p status..

Bigger doesn't mean better and Juanma has yet to beat anyone like Torres, Malinaggi, Quintana, Judah, or Mosley....he is untested and has a lot to go before making claims like these.

LOL uhmm everyone says that? you saying that is not like some almighty prediction that no one has ever said.

They say JuanMa is more of peoples person, while Cotto is extremely serious & about business.

I have been a Cotto fan longer than being a JuanMa fan . . . but I don't have problem even if that happens . . . both fighters are good action fighters and are a positive contribution to boxing. :D

Personalities. Cotto is more introverted, reserved, and serious where as JuanMa is more flasy, extroverted and out going. But its to early to say.

I agree with the thread starter with this one...juan Man lo, because of his personality, will easily become a more popular fighter than Miguel Cotto. If he continues to knock people out and move up in more marketable weight classes, he will become a mega-star. He is a tough and very likeable fighter. He punishes his opponents and is so mature for his age.

The sky is the limit for this guy.

Juanma is good fighter although some are beginning to hype his win against old penalosa who came from lower weights is not astonishing achievment. there is a flaws in his game which can exploit by the likes of vasquez or marquez caliber but all in all he will be a good prospect for the sport. he is not one punch KO IMO

i think juanma fought a good fight, just scared and happy and the same time. happy to see that he can take the bombs that gerry threw and it was clear that the best shots came from gerry, although in very limited numbers.

just scared **** though if juan ma goes up against the bigger guys, he can get kayoed with the way he exposed his chin. with his height and frame, i think he can fight all the way to 135 or 140. he and pac are basically same height. I think he should not waste his time in 122 and should go up to 126 and 130 soon.

And what makes you think Lopez has the chin to stand up to the power of Marquez and Vazquez? The guy hasn't been clocked by too many punchers and from what I've seen he's prety damn easy to hit. Anytime Penalosa would open up he'd tag JuanMa prety easily... and even in his destruction of Ponce de Leon he was getting hit with some prety clean shots from the crude Daniel before he landed those big KO shots of his. So you know he's going to be open for Izzy's and Rafa's big KO shots.
