Why did Ponce get KO'D in 1 round by a limited wideman like JuanMa vs a much better more power Broner but struggled all 12 rounds. Remember this is a 1st round KO.

because Broner caught stage fright on HBO infront of a hostile crowd and most likely underestimated Ponce. he's learned alot from that fight.

He was simply a more destructive aggressor. It's rare that any one fighter does every single thing better than another, even when there is a large gap in skill. And Juanma was much more experienced as well.

Different PDL then, different PFL now. He's more technical and smarter now he got better or else he wouldn't of have lasted 4 rounds with Gamboa or Broner.

I don't agree with this at all. He got caught with JuanMa's money shot early right away in the fight and couldn't rebound. Had there been a rematch we could have potentially seen JuanMa in a tougher fight with PDL until the power lands etc.

JuanMa's power is/was legit, and it landed right on the money when PDL wasn't yet warmed up to JuanMa's power.

De Leon showed no respect for JuanMa and paid the price for it.

    - PDL was the one wading in, with no respect for Lopez's punches
    - Lopez was not wild in this fight, he was throwing short compact hooks right off the bat, knowing exactly what he was trying to counter PDL with
    - It was just one of those instances where the right punch landed at the right time. Lopez was trying to time that punch and he finally nailed him with it and when he did PDL didnt recover.

Was bummed out when he KO'd PDL like that, was hoping PDL would have won the fight and he was in really good shape too.

he fought with no fear against Juanma.

he fought scared/careful against Broner. his experience advantage served him well.

Actually it was Broner that fought scared/careful in that fight.

Good fighters struggle and lose badly (but learn from it). The great ones struggle every once a while and still manage to make the fight competitive.

maybe. but PDL wasn't exactly pressing the action either. it was an awkward fight.
