    It's funny if you know your doing it as a joke to **** people off.
    But when you do it because your a dickhead like Hatton or Khan then it's annoying.

    Oli might do it at work tommorow just to see who gets pissed off :yep

    It's to make a distinction between themselves and the person in the ring hurting people for a living. A different persona, if you like. A lot of serial killers would do this too.

    I'd like to witness the point where somebody first refers to themselves in the third person without a shred of irony

    Is it possible that promoters encourage it, so that people who are watching but don't know the fighters learn their names?

    It sounds ridiculous whatever the reason, I'm assuming its mainly just down to ego.

    Id say ego mate, If your a good boxer your going to be famous, its bound to go to your head at some point, its human nature.

    Casey Stoner (moto gp) does it, always uses 'we', china rich finds that very annoying he does...
