It's like saying a fighter who fights in the southern states of the US isn't away when he goes to Mexico or a more northern state based fighter fights in Canada. Don't be stupid they are different countries and unless you didn't know that then grab yourself an atlas. In fact the much more negative crowd received in those countries would be worse than Canada and Mexico. As for the US, the fans don't know the meaning of atmosphere so any fight doesn't really bring a crowd advantage. Say what you want about the English but they know how to chant and create an atmosphere just look at Hatton-Senchenko around 40,000 fans all cheering on Hatton in a comeback fight after three years and creating an atmosphere. Fair play to Senchenko he handled it well and I thought him coming out in a Man UTD shirt was a great touch.

 

I understand the lack of overseas (you just mean America) recognition. However, as has been said on these forums a billion times SMW was all about europe back then and apart from Ward still is (although he is a big chunk of it). Calzaghe cleaned up his division in the end and even went to the US in his twilight to beat the man at LHW although the belt he won wasn't an alphabelt so it's not highly regarded. Just remember the fighter makes the belt not vice-versa
