He has has some great wins agasint Katsidis, Mitchell and Martinez...all come forward bangers. Going into the Broner fight he should be fighting slick counter punchers to prepare.

Ricky Burns is his own man and he has a voice, if he aint happy with the fight, guess what? He doesn't have to take it!

His original opponent dropped out with injury, if W-arren cant come up with something better, to take Ricky forward, then I'd say to Ricky, take a break and keep in the gym UNTIL W-arren comes with something genuinely WORLD CLASS.

It keeps Ricky active, I agree, but he is stagnating and aint going anywhere fighting low ranked opponents.

Some of his fans are saying he is world class, fine, but he needs to start and prove it against world class opposition.

He aint getting it with W-arren, that is for sure.

After Burns beat Katsidis, there was some talk of him being ranked alongside Lynch and Buchanan. I don't think that is close to being the case, but if Burns wants to be seen in the same light as those two, he has to move away from Frank. If he wants to pad his record and fight soft touches, that's fine, but if he does want to establish himself as a great fighter, that can't happen under Frank. The same goes for Cleverly, by the way. For all the talk about guys like Broner and Hopkins, those fights will not be made as long as Frank has a say in it or until, like Katsidis, they're so far past their best that a win is insignificant.

I like Burns and I want to see him against the best. People can say that it's a stay busy fight or whatever, but that's not the point. Burns is a world champion and a stay busy fight for him should be against a good, world ranked fighter, not a complete bum just because he's Filipino. It's impossible to defend.

 

Matches like this are why they sit on the outer reaches of the terrestrial universe. I reckon Babestation will get higher viewing figures then this shite.

I like Billy, like Burns and I like Dean Powell but this is garbage. Its not even like they are trying to build an unbeaten record here. At least with Calzaghe they can say they accomplished something because in between the 39 pointless fights he had - there were one or two meaningful ones to conjure the illusion of unbeatableness.

I feel for record he's proved himself the best in the UK now and its time to move on.
