Oh Pipe... You gotta keep going there. Eventhough I am not 'attached' to Pantera anymore, man, that still hurts. I was sitting there ringside and my whole plan for this guys was being demolished in front of me. When it was clear Miranda was not going to recover, I remember DiBella getting out of his seat and running to Arum to give him a high five. He was thrilled. He was avoiding the threat of Miranda from his money maker. Who knew? He got what he wished for and it wasn't pretty. What a sick feeling that night was. Painful for me to watch. What could have been.....
HOWEVER, all that doesnt change the fact the Andre Ward is the best damn boxer I have seen in some time. Sorry to say, but I really don't see it going any better for Kelly than the Hopkins fight. I hope for your sake I am wrong, but I don't see (today's) Kelly winning a round.
This would be such an epic upset if Pavlik pulled the miracle KO. Not gonna happen though. Ward by UD 118-110ish.
You know I had to give you a little bit of**** But a lot of dudes these days don't know just how Miranda was terrorizing the MW division back them days. I mean Jermain thanked Kelly for winning in his post fight interview on HBO for ****s sakes!! Hell of a fight, that was :deal
i read an article about Hatton's comeback (before it was stopped dead in its tracks) that referred to how he fought against pacman as "suicide boxing." That is not what kelly needs to do. However, he's not going to win a points decision. That being said i'd like to see him really step on the gas from the opening round. Pav is a notorious late starter so letting Ward get into his rythym isnt a good thing. i'm a huge fan of Ward's and have been for some time. But Kelly would have stopped the Chad Dawson that showed up for the Ward fight. So I'm not going to assume Ward is going to do the same to Kelly based on that fight which a lot of people seem to think is going to happen.
People keep forgetting what bad shape Dawson was in that fight. Miranda KHTFO in sparring leading up to that fight. Dawson's camp finally admitted it but not the extent to how bad it was. "Twitching" is never a good think when you are sparked and with head gear and big gloves? Yet people remember the Chad Dawson previous to his Ward fight and keep thinking it was the same Dawson in the ring. Same with cuts. His 'cut man' was a doctor that pumped him full of fluids so he was like a ripe pimple ready to burst open. Little wonder he couldn't stop the bleeding. Yet people forget that and think Kelly will just get 'cut to ribbons' and have the fight stopped. ESB attention span, most have already stopped reading t
Ward did exactly what a champ is supposed to do to a challenger. He took him out behind the woodshed beat him down. I take nothing away from Ward and I was very impressed as i watched it. but there is no way anyone can think that Dawson was 100% in there.
Yes it was a great fight. Miranda had his excuses... The amount of weight he lost in 24 hours would have killed most of us. His own fault though. He thought he was going to 'walk through the midwestern white boy'. Pavlik absolutely destroyed Miranda that night. Edison jumped in the back of a horse drawn carriage to get through the crowd on Beale St and back to his hotel. He was in really bad shape. I mean scary shape. He was never the same.
Bonilla doesn't have a reputation for stopping fights (although he recently stopped Dulorme from taking any more of a beating from Abregu). I talked with Smoger the next day. He said he normally would have stopped the fight earlier, but he takes into consideration the fighters in the ring. He said he knew at any moment, as long as Miranda was still willing to continue, he could change the fight with one big punch. He said he didn't want to stop a fight that had the potential to be an all time great. That big punch never landed (at least not one that changed the fight). Miranda vs Taylor... What a 24/7 they had planned. Damn that would have been great. Damn white boy!
