For me Jack it's not resentment to Flintoff it's towards the board for allowing circus acts like that to enter a profressional domain.
My Facebook got bombarded by friends who knew I watch boxing, saying Flintoff 'was brilliant'.....'can he be like Hatton?'......'he'll be a champ!' I tried to humour them by saying that he is the next Sugar Ray! They asked who Sugar Ray was............ Modern celebrity culture.
I might turn pro, just to ''give it a go''. Maybe have one fight, someone smaller then me and out of shape. I'd need a video to see how bad he is of course i can't face someone same height or level as me he's got to be slightly worse them me, maybe make me main event as well gotta make sure i earn a fair bit.
Yeah, I understand feeling that way, mate. I also understand the resentment towards the media who gave Flintoff a load of exposure. It must be frustrating for guys like Price and I get the sense that Bunce and Lillis were particularly annoyed about an 'outsider' getting big recognition from the press.
Is Freddie any worse than the assortment of bums that Mismatch brought over to fight Price and Jeffries?
The only thing I will say in this whole stunt's favour is that I think Flintoff is genuine bloke, he will realise that he isn't suited for this at all. He had a go, it was something he challenged himself to do and he achieved what 95% of us wont and won a fight! I can see him holding his hands up now and saying that he realises how much dedication, work and skill is needed to do this regularly and that it was fun but he will leave it to the true pros. IF he does something like that, I can't see TOO much harm being done - boxing got some exposure in mainstream media and it shows how hard and skilled the noble art is to the ill informed masses. I say all this and just watch he will probably have another fight lined up for the O2 in April........
:good. He's slightly better, but then again they come over knowing there over matched and on a lot less money. Not saying much for Freddie really.
