So two fighters just punching each other in the head without moving off a marked white line till the weaker one falls.

Would it be someone like George Foreman or David Tua with a good chin and seriously strong punches?

Would it be a guy like Tyson who has a solid chin huge power and lightning fast combinations of those power punches?

Would it be a guy like Valuev who has a good chin, and extremely heavy hands from a huge mass that normally he dosnt land due to lack of speed but due to standing on a line he will now be able to connect fully no one can stick and move now.

Would it be someone like Holyfield or Ali etc who can just take unbelievable amounts punishment to the head and still be completely unaffected?

In the whole of boxing history who would win this competition?

I wouldnt mind a couple of dollars on an outsider like Riddick Bowe. His chin is as good as anyones, he is as big as most, he hits hard on the inside and can throw longer punchers when the other fighter moves back a bit. The rules do also sound like they are right down John L Sullivans alley also.

It probably wasnt meant in the question, but if the winner is the first guy to make the other step off the line, then probably the quick quys win, as it becomes almost a karate style first point wins competition so Ali, corbett, Jones Jr, Patterson, Greb and a few others come right into the equation.

If chin includes stamina and mental strength....err.. no, it is not.

    It is John L Sullivan.

Its simply hitting each other in the head full power as fast and as hard as you can as the other guy does the same to you till someone goes to sleep, I dont think stamina would come into it unless you were facing someone with a ridiculous chin like Ali/ Holyfield, those guys might beat a guy like george on stamina if george punches himself out and if they had enough power to put george away!?

This is not P4P primarily but u can give your answer p4p if you wish. John L sulivan as good as he was at his size would get KOTFO by big george forman as im sure you all know already.

honestly, you pit those two toe to toe: foreman vs sullivan and who comes out on top?

Is it? What if foreman couldnt KO Ali no matter how hard and how many times he hit ali in the head, and what if Alis average punches were enough to crack georges chin, then maybe ali beats george. Its a difficult question, it may not be possible to answer, I think it would be the guys with the strongest chins rather than the strongest punches that prevail and then if you have two guys with weak punches and granite chins it would come down to endurance/ a stalemate/ a draw.

My bet is an Ali - Tex Cobb stalemate draw.

This thread is about a realization that Tex Cobb may just have the best physical genetics for a Toe to Toe slugfest out of anyone in boxing history.

Seriously I think of all the uber chins - (holyfield, tex cob, ali, chuvalo etc) who ever had the best endurance and could stay punching /standing longer than the others would be the winner.

Unless george could crack ANY/ALL chin, even the earnie shavers proof tex cob chin? or alis chin?

    Chin > punching power?
