Props to him for giving it a go, but Flintoff was honestly the worst boxer I have ever seen, bar those 2 fat drunks on youtube and that gay boxer. Ive NEVER trained boxing and beleive I can throw a better punch.

i will give you a predicttion on how freddies boxing career ends... another 3 or 4 fights against better choreographed fighters....freddie lording it up in the press and his missus getting more press coverage ( like a rubbish version of rachel cordingly) obviously more sky documetarys etc ... then shocking news as freddies about to step up and fight someone half good ....his knee has gone and he has too retire. obviously followed up of tails of woe, drink and drugs and more publicity,,,,
freddie is a media slut .... one with not a lot to say . but fellas who think there lads like him... he is disliked by english cricket fans and players even more than kp.

mcguigan is a spokesman for boxing...he is elaborate and has spoken a lot of sense when others have tried to speak negatively about boxing.
i am surprised he has got involved with something like this....it shows how money talks and even someone like him will sell his soul in the right circumstance....he took someone like freddie, who in any other situation mcguigan himself would in no way be associated with it, and basically used him...he seen the chance to get barry mcguigan promotion name associated with a big event and his son's name as a trainer put out there...he used the niave flintoff as much as he could.

its the way i see it today anyway.......and i like barry and shane...i just dont like what barry's done here.

agree with almost everything you said, Flintoff the "boxer" is a complete joke, and the fight was a farce but the pounding a fast bowler's knees and body take, day in and day out is pretty unnatural. His retirement wasnt a complete surprise from cricket - bowling 20 overs a day in test match cricket is a young man's game.

agree, the pose / celebration was fine in his heyday as a decent cricketer - the kind of thing you do after taking the crucial wicket of an aussie batsman. To pose like that after a scratchy, wild, and frankly embarassing performance like that was an indication of how deluded he is and how much he believes his own hype.

surely being punched by a 17 stone proffesional cant be good for his knees, let alone running , ring work etc...

nah, was a huge boxing fan in the 80s and 90s - I only really read the classic boxing forum. Ventered here to see what you guys made of last night's embarassment.

Any way, forget flintoff's pose - what surprised me was Mcguigan's celebration!

So, everything must be a publicity stunt - designed to keep him in the public eye - surely it would have been easier to go on those reality tv shows?

People need to get over themselves, it was what it was. Some bloke who wanted a go at boxing. Nothing more, northing less. Nothing to do with money or exposure on anyone's part.
