Hagler was no way in his prime when he fought Mugabi, that's the fight where Sugar Ray saw his skills diminishing.... i believe it fair to put Hagler in his prime rather than a diminishing skills fighter against a prime Benn..... The skill level of the fighters from Haglers era was so much better than Benn was, and it shows when an old Duran just messes with Benn dosen't even try, spinning 360 degrees in sparring and still not getting hit and hopping out of the way while being flat footed.... Hagler wins this in every single way.

I guess not many watched the Watson fight. What happened in that one when nigel faced a guy with tools? First Eubank fight? I guess this is based upon what Logan and Barkley?

I'd venture to say Benn has tons of problems with some of the guys Marvin defended against and he is not walking through that minefield without another stoppage loss. Scypion was a good fighter before he met up w/ Marvin. Obelmajias. Sibson. Vito. Roldan. Actually the guy who's chances Benn probably matches in this hypothetical is another slugger-- Don Lee.

Hagler would have annihilated Benn, period. Not even worthy of debate in my view. I would have bet a lot of money on Hagler in this one. I don't think Benn gets to round 5 against Marvin.

I agree Marvin would win and within 5 rounds - but I think the first 3 might be the hardest fought of Haglers career
Would be a fantastic fight for the viewer

It’d probably be a fight of the year and go the distance, who knows?

Round 1 Benn roars out and almost immediately cracks Hagler with a wild right hand, that actually shakes Marvin up!
Hagler holds on but Benn is going wild throwing bombs at his man.
Marvin manages to get some of his own shots in but it's Benn s round big.
Round 2 Nigel comes out fast again but Hagler is ready for him and smacks a right hook through, sending Benn back in to the ropes. Now it's Marvin on the attack..
But Benn bobs and weaves and connect s with Hagler s skull hard. Marvin goes down on one knee and takes a 9 count. He rises as the bell Goes.
The place is in uproar and Benn is pumped up!
Round 3 Both men rush out on the attack but it's Marvin who gets the best of it as Benn is staggered and dropped..
Benn s really hurt here and just makes it up, Marvin attacks him with a ferocious combination with the last punch, a deadly right, putting Nige down hard. Amazingly he try s to rise but the ref waves it over.
Fight of the year and shouts for a rematch echo around the arena.

Tony Sibson, Caveman Lee, Bennie Briscoe,Bobby Watts, Wilford Scypian ,Juan Roldan , Fuli Obiejimas ,John Mugabi, Thomas Hearns , Everyone one of them a very good to great puncher, yet Hagler barely took a step back from anyone of them, Hearns landed his right hand multiple times prior to breaking it on Hagler's head, no effect , Mugabi landed an uppercut on him that would ko'd most pro middleweights ,and literally killed the average man, it only pissed Hagler off. If Benn is only bringing punching power,a bad attitude and tenacity to the dance....... It will be a very short dance, Hagler ruins Benn in 5rds at the most if he's prime
    or close to it.

Prime for prime I think Hagler outboxes him comfortably maybe even gets on his toes for a couple rounds like he did against Briscoe befor he starts taking apart a gassing Benn and stops him around 8. Too much precision punching behind the jab coming from Hagler. Too of my favorites also.

interesting fight. I pick Hagler in midrounds . Benn was a hard puncher and better when he was patient, but Hagler would expose Benn's rather porous defense and stop him by TKO.

If Benn goes toe to toe like he loved to do at 160 lbs, Hagler by brutal early round stoppage. If Benn tries to box, Hagler breaks him down by the mid rounds.

Hagler in two because Benn wouldn’t give Marvin any choice. He keeps coming and loading up on his bombs so MMH would dig in, counter and end him.
