Fury/Johnson & Cotto/Trout RbR!

Only in England would we get two very good heavyweight prospects and if you like one you have to deride everything the other does.

Fury did exactly what he needed to, and as a world heavyweight prospect moved forward more than we would have done by blasting someone out in 5-6 rounds.

Price is obviously unmatched at domestic level, but needs to step up, pretty much as Fury did after Rogan.

I thought Fury was really good tonight.

He was patient, and completed the job that was in front of him, winning a near shut out decision.

Safety pin isn't a world beater but he was capable of causing an upset or at the very least a few problems.

There wasn't much difference between the level of performance between Klitschko and Fury in respect of their showings against Johnson, in all honesty.

Fury was probably more impressive.

 

I agree, I don't really think it can get any bigger that it would be at this point. The longer they leave it, the more likely it is that one of them gets beaten and the fight loses its 'battle of the undefeated' edge.

You have described perfectly why Johnson was in his shell and Fury boxed cautiously. You called the fight and don't even know it....I could kill someone when I hear what some "boxing fans" have to say

 

Don't see the point of getting in the ring if you're not going to make any sort of an effort. Can't remember him throwing a right hand in the entire bout.

 

He was certainly disappointing, but it's unfair to call him a "pathetic fighter". He didn't do anything different against Vitali when he got some credit for going the distance.

 

Fury looked good in what he did, however that was a paid opponent there to ride it out!!!

C level HW and I have never seen a fighter so uninterested in a fight in my entire, this was the Living Colour definition of a Tomato Can put in front of you, Boxing Bags don't fight back... if this lemon had any zip to him it has long lost i'ts bite.

no, he was coming off a domestic fight no one gave a **** about which proved nothing.
Maddalone was at least a small step up, and he got a WBO trinket for what its worth.
Price has fought 4 times this year against Big John, Sexton, Audley and Skelton and for me they are all very much of a muchness, with no step up in quality. He's got his Lonsdale belt, but not moved on and had about 8 rounds in 12 months. He could have defended his Lonsdale inbetween tougher international fights if keeping the belt was an aim, and I can understand wanting to do that. But when you get to keep it after fighting those mediocre opponents what is its real value and how have you developed?

He needs to get away from the domestic scene, and fight someone who will move him forward and who he can't blast out early doors.

 

Good performance from Fury, one for the purists.

Fury produced a very disciplined performance and Eubank jr coming along nicely too.

I really like both fellas; have no wish to see either fail, just want them both to become the best they can and give us another heavyweight champion.

I lean slightly towards Price, but that changes fight to fight to be honest!

On tonights evidence I was very impressed with the technical ability Tyson showed, he showed me more than I fought he was capable of TBH.

He deserves credit for the fight tonight; regardless of how it played out Kingpin was a tough, dangerous and risky opponent (certainly on paper) and there is no doubt that Fury has stepped up to a higher level than David so far.

Pricey has had a mixed year IMO.

He has kept busy, that is great, and he has raised his profile and generated interest in the Tyson match; but his opponents have not been great and there simply has not been the step up in quality between each one that I would have hoped.

2013 is going to be a massive year for both of these fellas and I can't bloody wait!!! :bbb
