He's always lacked rhythm and a right hand, those things always prevented him from being a p4p type of fighter.
he was top 10 p4p for at least 3 years you moron, there is just a few active boxers who were top 10 p4p for longer time than Cotto.
Yes Cotto was actually that good and will eventually make his way to the HOF. The best version of Cotto was the guy that fought Mosley/Gomez, However that does not mean that the version post Margarito 1 that fought Mayweather/Trout/Pacquiao was shot by any means just a bit gun shy but still a very good version Cotto that looks good on any resume. Think of the Vargas that fought De La Hoya not the best version (the one that fought Trinidad) but at the same he was not shot by the time he fought DLH and still a very good fighter much like todays Cotto
I know he was dickhead, I mean an actual top p4p fighter i.e. top 3. He never really had any dominant, defining wins against top opposition. He was on his way against Mosley but then he faded in the second half as he usually does.
I wouldn't judge his career on his performance against Trout as history says that fighters look sub par after they fight Mayweather. You only have to look as far as Hatton, its easy to see now why Manny was trying to make another Cotto fight. I judge fighters pre- and post Mayweather, as they usually look shot after they fight Floyd, hence why Pac man then cherry picks them.
he just have lots of wars and wear and tear in his body. i always find him slow and bulky ever since he moved-up to 154.
