I asked if George Foreman would be the best bare knuckle fighter and got a lot of people saying he would not be, out of all the boxers and bare knuckle fighters who would be considered the greatest of all time in your eyes ? If they fought under the same rules John L Sullivan and Jake Killrain ect fought under?

I learned to my surprise that a lot of fighters aren't really hardmen, especially in recent years, though there were certainly different periods in boxing and locations where they were definate tough guys and hardmen.

point being a street type fight, UFC type thing or no holds/no rules on the cobbles, you had better be a hardman... the best boxers for this are boxers that 'were' actually street fighters & tough guys too, then you get fitness, skill and _ucken street fighting lunacy thrown together in one package - thats your best bareknuckle fighters!

Boxers who would be handy in a street fight, in no particular order, well...chronological order:

Dempsey, Walcott, Marciano, Frazier, Foreman, Vitali.

Almost forgot Tyson., who needs a mention on account of his handiwork outside Dapper Dan's.

Walcott is an interesting one? He's one of my favourite boxers but i've never really thought about him as a bare knuckle fighter though? Oh but this isn't street fight it's bare knuckle boxing from the John L sullivan era

Not sure if Bhop is a good shoutout, hes got the prison record, learned boxing in prison and he seems to be street smart.

I think Jack Johnson would do well in a one-on-one bareknuckle fight. He can parry, work from the clinch. There won't be that much difference with his actual experience.

i would want a figter who meets these criteria:
    good body puncher,
    cut resistant,
    wrestling experience(actual competitive wrestling),
    stamina,
    heart,
    tough hands,
    accurate punching.

i cant think of anyone recent who meets all these, but chavez and hatton could do well in a bareknuckle career i think.

What happened outside Dapper Dan's? (where/whatever the **** that store is) Also great shout on Dempsey. He'd be my number one based on the fact that the dude pretty much bare-knuckled box in mines all the time before he got into boxing properly.

    NO.

some aren't hard enough, though the ones that are, combined with Fitness & Skill are killers, as I said earlier... these are your true Top Men!

    who's talking about 'average' person?

I'm talking about True Street Fighters, not punks & drunks, some top fighters aren't hard enough to beat them, more than you realize.

but the Hard as **** top boxers are yes, the Top Men!

I'd pick Jack Johnson over most. Great D, good stamina, can clinch and punch on the inside, very strong guy.
