Doubt Cotto became a shell overnight just like that. He was up against a proper 154 pounder who shot down the stupid notion that 154 is Cotto's best weight. He doesn't belong there and he never did.

What happen tonight was cotto just fought a guy that's a lot bigger and stronger. What he needs to do now is drop down a weight class or retire

I agree you have two B fighters going at it and one just happens to be in the wrong weight class

It happens. That's why the old adage "Got old overnight" exists in Boxing, and it's not like Cotto was exactly at his peak to begin with when he fought Mayweather.

Regardless of the size discrepancy, Cotto still lacked form, he still couldn't maintain balance, and he still was unable to capitalize on openings he would have exploited in the past. Last night's version of Cotto would have had his hands full with a lot of ordinary fighters at 154 or 147.

    ***** logic:

Cotto was shot when he fought Pacquiao, amazingly became UNshot three years later and at a higher weightclass against Floyd, then became a shell of nothingness in his fight 6 months later.

  9. Mayweather isnt going near Trout. here comes what mayweather is best at.

He will look to fight Guerrero I bet, someone who has over achieved somewhat but is good risk/reward for his legacy.

It's not that Austin Trout was necessarily impressive, because he's not particularly fast, nor is he a hard puncher, but he is good defensively, and I liked how he targeted Cotto's body, but he beat Cotto because Cotto couldn't hurt him.

Martinez would likely KO Trout. A fight between Trout and Angulo is maybe 50/50. In those fights he won't have a significant size and strenght advantage over his oppposition.

And both of those men can hurt him.

For this reason, is why Pacquaio is greater than Mayweather. Mayweather is more skilled defensively, but Pacquaio is also a proficient counterpuncher, but like the great Sugar Ray Robinson who carried his power all the way up to light heavy weight, Pacquiao can bust up significantly larger fighters due to his power.

For instance, if Pacquaio fought Angulo, we may see a similiar fight to when he fought Margarito, but if Mayweather fought Angulo, he would not be able to hurt him and he would get knocked out.

And Angulo is a stretch because he's a fighter that will keep coming even if you do hurt him, but Trout for instance, if Pacquaio landed on Trout, his face would get busted up.

The same can't be said for Mayweather.

Anyway, the point about what I'm saying is, Mayweather nor Pacquaio is a 154 lb fighter, and Floyd needs to stop ducking Pacquaio and prove who the greatest is.

It's not Floyd. Floyd is the most skilled fighter of our generation, but Pacquaio is the greatest.

Trout beats Angulo by outboxing him and confusing him with his footwork.

Trout uses his length and skill to fluster Sergio and take away the left.

Only threat from Trout right now is Canelo.

Martinez breaks down Trout with explosive body punching and stop him late.

Martinez is faster, harder hitting, and more mobile.

Cotto was able to pin Trout, Angulo will be on him like a fly on ****.

I think Trout vs Angulo is 50/50, especially considering Angulo has a great trainer like Virgil Hunter in his corner.

I suppose Martinez may not be the same fighter after his surgery, but the guy that showed up against Chavez is on a different level than Trout.

This was a case of a big man beating up a small man.

If Sergio was a committed body puncher and didn't fight it spurts you might have a point, but you don't.

Martinez isn't faster nor more mobile and he definitely doesn't have as good a defense. He does have more one punch power.

Cotto was able to at time trap trout and Trout was able to smother him on the inside and usually turn him and get back out at wiill.

Angulo is slower footed and slower punching than Cotto.

Angulo has a puncher's chance against Trout, that is it.

The guy that showed up against Chavez is the one who needed late KOs to clearly beat bums like Macklin and Barker, and almost got KO'd late by Chavez Jr. So no he isn't as good as you think he is.

Yep this was most definitely the case of a good big man beating a good small man.
