    Psychological warfare and a virtual threat on a world class jab. Duran basically snake-charmed Hagler, made him believe that it wasn't "worth it" when it was...that fight is an astonishing technical showpiece.

    A lot of reasons, the most important touched on by McGrain already. He also threw him for a loop by not fighting him in the manner that Hagler had fully anticipated. Many will tell you Hagler simply showed him too much respect (which he may of), others that Hagler couldn't find a sufficient amount of disdain for Duran in the build-up considering it was going to net Marvin multi-millions (a bit more silly). The fact is, Duran pushed all the right buttons psychologically and possessed the skill and savy to remain a live dog throughout. Over Hagler's entire reign, from Minter in 1980 through Mugabi in 1986, 13 title fights and 12 defenses, Duran was the only one to hear the final bell. :deal

    I actually haven't seen much of Tiger. How do you think he fares against other top MWs H2H?

    Haglers to old now but if you mean in his prime im pretty sure we all knew that, comparing a legend to a guy who doesnt have a significant win yet

    2 of Haglers 3 losses were bull**** decisions, and the loss to Willie Monroe in Philadelphia I'm not sure about because there is no video of it available online, and Monroe was a Philly fighter. Still, he avenged that loss with 2 devastating knockouts.

    Hagler would stay on the balls of his feet, moving his head, pot shotting and countering at will. Hagler was great at slipping punches and always had his feet in position to throw back.

    Footwork is the most under appreciated aspect in boxing, and Hagler's was brilliant for his style.

    Because he did it against Hearns, and that must mean he did it all the time.

    Afterall, if you fight a particular style in ONE or TWO fights, it must mean you always fight like that :roll:

    Hagler was good at leading too, especially with the ramrod jab. He wasn't necessarily a counter-puncher, or pressure guy, he was a versatile fighter.

    One weakness I felt he had was that his straight left was a relatively poor and underused weapon. Especially for such a well-rounded and complete fighter. Duran said something like "his left is dead"

    Hagler slipped, dodge and countered much greater fighters with much superior skills, speed, and boxing IQ than GGG.

    There is no reason to walk through those punches as he would rarely touch Marvelous.

    Well nobody that comes to him is beating him. And I mean nobody. In history.

    Boxing and moving is the way to beat Tiger, so chalk that up. Anyone who can make him lead and chase will trouble him badly I think.

    Not top tier then, but next down. Probably some surprising guys could beat him. Martinez might beat him. But anyone who fights the wrong fight gets CRUSHED.
