Magee would've enhanced Kessler's resume in 2007/8. Now, it's much poorer risk-for-reward (although I strongly favor Kessler)
Easy win for Kessler, even now with him not looking like he used to. I remember when Magee was put to the floor 4 times by R Reid and let off the hook throughout that fight. He just doesnt seem to have a very good chin I dont think, though has seemed to rebound and a few times now and has this shot at Kessler
Magee has never really been that interesting for KEssler although he did have some good wins and has been bouncing around 6-10 in the division for a while. But after first beating LArsen in Denmark, and then recently beating MArkussen in Denmark.... he is now interesting for Kessler.
Even if Mikkel is sliding a bit, I still take him by KO or TKO against Magee. Brian is a decent fighter, a quality contender, but as has already been mentioned his chin has a history of being a bit dodgy.
Magee becomes dangerous in the sense that Kessler is the overwhelming favorite to claim the WBA title once again, and Brian waited an entire career for this 1 shot at making his dream come true, while for Kessler, this fight is only a stepping stone to set up 1 or 2 other big money fights before putting an end to his career. Kessler hasn't fought that often in the last couple of years, the rust sets in quicker while aging and if we combine that with the overconfidence of facing a big underdog, then it's a recipe for possible complications...
Mikkel Kessler's eye are fine. OT: I am very disappointed in Kessler, it's been over 2 years soon to be 3 years since he faced a live opponent. At least he should've fought Stieglitz and become a world champion, but Sauerland had other plans. He should've go over to the states and fought Pavlik, which i think he could beat pretty easy. He's career seems kinda messed up imo
If Magee completes the danish hattrick, which I dont think he will, Denmark will have to name a city after him.
All true. The only thing going against this logic is that Kessler usually prepares fairly well. He is not top primed for all fights, but he also never comes to a fight almost unprepared. Still - Magee is very underrated and even in his big fights was very competitive. He for instance boxed on equal terms with Froch until the stoppage. Not like Froch's last opponents who were battered all over the place. So Magee certainly can make this rough.
I don't see Kessler having much trouble.. Style wise I don't see a guy like Magee giving Kessler many issues.. Kessler TKO 8
Think it will be a tough fight for Kessler. He could get problems in a rough and closer fight than many expect. That said, I nonetheless favour the Viking Warrior by late TKO.
The first two times I saw Magee I thought he looked ok but he was in against overmatched opponents so I was on the fence. Then I witnessed the Reid debacle...He couldn't have possibly looked more ****, even if he had thrown the fight...Reid looked nearly as awful which just compounded the shitness of the overall performance. So my opinion of Magee was very low for many years....even when he built up a lead against Froch I wasn't willing to come around because at the time I wasn't particularly sold on Carl yet either. But his career is going through little renaissance since he mashed Larsen..Even in his loss to Bute he put a good effort and showed he was a cagey customer. It would be an upset if he beat Kessler but an early cut or other injury or a knockdown could really make things interesting. Mikkel from a few years back would have won pretty handily but with his body going through more injuries than tattoos I don't know if Kess will hang around to much longer.
After Magee humbles him, the Danes should just abandon parliament and let Brian rule them as lord and dictator
