Pretty much. Yet Canelo's team are making it look like Canelo is established, fully unified and ATG material already.

The outrage exists because Alvarez is young any many feel like he's done nothing to deserve the leverage to choose who he fights, and bypass more deserving boxers. Also, the fact that Lopez beat Ortiz whom Alvarez was set to fight, but not fighting Trout seems shady and quite honestly the most blatant duck in recent memory. You know the whole Mayweather vs Pacquiao fiasco? Well, it looks like Canelo will be doing similar things with every worthy opponent for his entire career.

Just goes to show who the future cash cow of boxing will be. It is no secret PBF took on all the softer touches during this time. That is why he faced Judah after Baldomir beat him. Then did his best to avoid Margarito, PW and Cotto.

Mayweather was an ATG already. 10 years world champion in 3 weight classes and p4p number 1 by the time he im fought Judah.

Canelo is still fighting junior welterweights lol!

Makes me sick people are even drawing comparisons between the two.

Floyd is 18-0 against top ten comp, most of them were #1-3. Alvarez????

:deal and its unacceptable really. He's in the best and deepest division in boxing, of which he is supposedly the WBC champ, and yet he/GBP are pretending there is nobody worth fighting other than washed up past primers or smaller guys from lower weight divisions.

    Disgraceful it really is.

I am not saying I encourage this match making from GBP but the comparisons are there with PBFs early career. Except Canelo is probably even more popular than PBF was at 22. I always hated that Canelo got that belt so early. He is still only 22 and he is being pushed along at the right rate for his age. The belt is what gives people ammunition. I think Canelo can be one of the greats but the way things are shaping up he is starting to lose fans due to his gifted belt and his normal progression for a prospect. I say normal because it is normal for a 22 year old to be fighting the type of fighters Canelo has fought.

    It's all about the belt.

Canelo just fought a no name 140 lber. LOL @ Trout having to accomplish anything more to get a shot at him.

The only thing that Alvarez has accomplished was being born photogenic and Mexican. If he didn't have that going for him, nobody would give two shits about him.

The sad thing is, there are fans that are actually supporting the Cotto fight.

But hang on, Austin Trout just got here right? I mean, no-one even knew who he was before he beat Cotto last Saturday...

Alvarez is a cash cow because he crosses over to the public, not because he has achieved anything particularly special in boxing (yet). If you are a cash cow, you have the marketing edge, that's not a boxing specific problem, that's just business.

As far as a duck is concerned, that is an outrageous statement. Is Trout going to go stale over the course of a year? No. Could he become more viable to Golden Boy and Alvarez as a business proposition? Yes. So why the feck would they make that fight now, when it could, and most probably will, be bigger in future?

Alvarez-Cotto makes far more sense, both in boxing and business. Its Mexico-Puerto Rico, its a young/untested lion and a grizzled veteran, its a step up for Canelo and one last hurrah for Cotto. How is that fight an outrage?

Now had people said, Richard Schaefer is an ex-banker (or whatever), and doesn't know how to phrase what he actually wants to say, and that that was outrageous - I would have agreed with everything they had said.

true. well i hope alvarez can clear out the division by starting to fight legit champions after how many fights now.. why not start on trout who "noone knew he even was" i mean this is how legends are born, they come out of no where.. like when the great barrera gave manny a chance, they made millions off him. it's what keeps boxing alive... or austin can just take out the whole division while canelo on the sidelines
