Forget Deontay Wilder and other false prophets, Amir Mansour is on the fast track to super-stardom. The authorities have denied him his rightful place at the top table for years now. Amir Mansour cannot be repressed any longer. He is the truth, and the truth always makes its way to the top level. January 25, 2013 is the date of his comeback. Remember Tyson's first fight after coming out of jail? That's nothing compared to this.
Its definitely a young mans game, but its a young mans game to the extent of how much punishment you have taken throughout your boxing career, amateur and up. See, I didnt have a long and extensive amateur career; I didnt have ANY amateur career! Therefore, I still have my reflexes, and Im still fast. I dont talk and slur, and things of that nature. Im still young physically, and then being in prison for 8 1/2 years really just puts you in a pickle jar, and really preserves you. I didnt have a career where I suffered a lot of damage throughout my early years, and then I get into my 30′s and am already ready to retire. You have some guys with 300 amateur fights who turn pro, and after 15 fights they cant even walk straight anymore. They cant take a punch anymore because of their long and extensive amateur careers. I didnt have that, and its a blessing because I am able to do what Im doing now. It will be very easy because in prison I just continued to train. It was like the 8 1/2 years in prison was an 8 1/2 year camp for me, and thats what I turned it into. In my mind, I was in a boxing camp. I trained everyday while I was in prison. I was blessed to be around a very good fighter who had a huge knowledge of the fight game, and would probably make a great trainer someday if he chooses to become one after he comes home from prison. Calvin Strictly Business Davis (22-1, 8 knockouts); He was locked up with me, and he was such a great inspiration for me that for about the 6 1/2 years we were together he would train me, and really forced me to train hard as I was often pushed to my limits. We used to train with some make-shift pads and some gloves, and we would train in a little 10′x10′ closet. Wed go all over the prison to get guys to spar with me, so we really trained hard. So when I came home, I was right where I needed to be.
What people need to understand is that unlike the Klitschkos, who spend their spare time writing poetry and taking part in political negotiations, Amir Mansour spent nearly a decade locked up in jail. His dedication and commitment to keeping himself in incredible shape and honing his skills is second to none. We saw what happened in Undisputed when the world champion got sent to jail and couldn't cope with the number 1 guy inside, because prison requires a whole different level of commitment and training. Well that's what will happen when Amir Mansour fights a Kilitschko. The sort of back-to-basics, hardcore training that Amir lives by is far superior to the professional training camps that the Klitschkos have.
He was in jail between 2001 and 2010 for drug offences. Then he was in jail again between December last year and July this year for violating his probation. He's back now, can travel all over the US and hopefully internationally to fight.
Solid SP puncher, but while he may be a young 39, he's still 39. I was happy when I found him working on a fight with Welliver last yr, but it fell through....lowball offer of 30K I think. Kindof hard to get a guy into your backyard for short dough. Woulda beat Williams to the win and sent Monsour flying up the rankings. A solid win over Guinn was nice, but he feared Guinns right hand. :think Looked like he was trying to smother the stronger man. I'd like to see him make a quick jump next month. Hopefully he can get a decent name. I'd like to see how he'd fare with zxcvbnm's other fav, Leif Larsen. Two over the hill bangers, both ex con's, one a gangster, the other a kiddie fiddler. At least we'd have one to pull for. I'd take Monsour to KO him in 1, then **** him in the ring, then be brought back to the pen to save him from a Klitschko beatdown.
Unfortunate what happened to this lad. Vitali will surely retire now and Wladimir will continue to fight oafs like Wach and tubby shot CWs now that Mansour is out of the big house.
