Roy wanted to fight those guys. I am sure the money had to be right, and had to be on Roy's terms, but he did want to fight them. That is not ducking.

And as for totally taking to school, the fighter viewed by many to be the P4P best in the world being poor? I don't know what to say.

I don't think anything Roy did or would have done, would be enough for some people. Despite not fighting the ones you mentioned, he has a very good resume, will go down as an ATG, will be remembered as a legend... That much is clear.

Loudon, I am not talking bollocks. The thing is that you have an opinion and that wont change regardless of the amount of info thrown your way.

We all have different opinions and that's fine. But you have been shown PROOF that they didn't want a double header to promote the fight, and that Brad Jacobs and HBO couldn't get Kohl to sit down and discuss terms.

It's there in black and white.

Go to 6.05 of this video and watch it until the 8th min.

Then go and look at who DM fought, after the fight with Roy fell through.

That tells you how seriously he wanted a big fight, and how much he really wanted Roy.

Jones wasn't interested in legacy or taking any risks - he just wanted to control his career himself while being "p4p #1". That's why he was only ever a title-holder and so many good fights in his career never happened.

Thanks for posting mate, I'm on my phone so I can't watch the video on youtube, but will do later.

Yeah I'll be watching, it's on channel 5 which means I can watch it on TV instead of having to go find a stream online! Also looking forward to Groves-Johnson next weekend, I think Glen could shock a few people. If there are question marks over Groves, Johnson could be the man to provide us with answers. Also looking forward to Pacquiao-Marquez 4, most are picking JMM but I still think it's a toss up, depends how much Manny has left in the tank

    what about you?

Collins was actually training to fight Calzaghe when he collapsed. Imagine that. But Collins had retired and Jones said he'd fight him if he fought Calzaghe first.

Collins said towards the end of his career that he spent the best part of his career chashing Roy Jones and that money was no longer a problem that he'd fight him for free in a phone box with two men and a dog watching. Jones wanted nothing to do with Collins and Collins was desperate for the fight.

I'm glad it's on channel 5, but I'm surprised he's signed with Hennessy for 4 years. Is that good or bad?

I didn't watch Glen's final fight, so I've no idea how much he's got left. It should be good though.

    Manny's on Primetime isn't he?

Is it a one off PPV? Or do you you have to join up for a while? All of these fights used to be free on sky sports, I can't believe what's happened in the last two years. Now you need Sky, ESPN, Primetime and Boxnation to see everything.

I think it'll be another close fight and Manny will just edge it. I want Manny to win, but only on the basis of, if Marquez wins convincingly, I think that will kill any hope of a Manny-Floyd fight. So I'll be rooting for Manny.

I was looking forward to Murray-Rees this weekend, and Carson Jones-Purdy.

They would have been great fights.

    Regards, Loudon.

In 1999 Collins was retired 2 years then. What about when Collins was the champ? He always called out Jones (with or without the belt) but Jones wanted none of him.
