I've had enough of Barry McGuigan. I've never liked McGuigan as a boxing pundit on Sky Sports. Barry has this terrible habit of interrupting other people when they're talking, dismissing their opinions and ALWAYS has to be the one to get the last word in. It's just something I've always found very irritating about him and the fact that Sky haven't had him on much recently is just fine by me. However, I've always respected him to due to his accomplishments in the ring himself. In the last few weeks though, that respect has completely evaporated. When I first heard he was playing a part in the whole Flintoff boxing debacle I raised my eyebrows. Surely someone as experienced as McGuigan wouldn't help embarrass the sport in such a way? I was wrong. His comments about people such as myself who weren't happy about Flintoff being allowed to headline a professional boxing show have really took the biscuit though. He has the bare faced cheek to say people who didn't like it are "idiots" who "don't understand the sport". You know what? **** you McGuigan. Take your pea-sized brain, worthless opinions and big mouth somewhere else. Surely I can't be the whole person who's had it with this condescending *****?
Some people just got to have the "look at me " in their life , not knocking the fella for that btw if that is how he wants to feed his family , as a fighter i admired him for his fights but as a pundit he lost me as a fan donkey years ago every time Steve Robinson fought .
Barry was a legend in my eyes as a fighter and always will be. To be fair he talks a lot more sense on sky than Nelson and McCrory.
Obviously not physically he didn't as they never fought but when Barry was first jumping on the pundit bandwagon he used to be very negative regarding the Cinderella man .
If you do not like Barry McGuigan ..then that's fair enough as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Personally ... i dont think you need to start a thread about it though.
I have a love/hate feeling towards McGuigan. One the one handtotally agree with the thread starter but on the other I like McGuigans enthusiasm for the sport and whilst he's a know it all he is far and away the best pundit in British boxing IMO. Plus the little leprechaun nearly or tried to run me over after the Khan v Earl fight.
Hang on Fin mate I was asked by a barmaid the other day if Freddy would be a world champion soon ? Now that to the sport has gotta be a bigger draw back than a black bulls foreskin .
I've always like his passioin and excused him often interuppting mundane analysts due to it. He always seems a straight shooter too. He may appear rude and wanting to get the last word in but I don't think thats the case. When on Ringside with Quigg and Munroe and they tried to go at him just a little aggressively, he laughed it off and pulled back rather than have the cliche boxing press conference type verbal altercation.
