Great result for Deano. Showed great heart. Jones should have been docked a point for all the low blows.
I thought Bynre thoroughly deserved the draw and could even have nicked it by 1 point. As for O'Kane, well I said a couple of weeks ago I thought even now Eubank Jr could beat him and I haven't changed my mind.
I had it 77-75 Byrne, and I think for the short notice he boxed absolutely tremendously. You could see how much that meant to him aswell, no title on the line but he wanted it so badly. It's as if he just wants to prove that he's a decent fighter, written off by so many after his losses and given little chance by most tonight. Dean Byrne has earned himself some big fights after tonight, hopefully he gets them and hopefully they're at Light-Welterweight, because I think down there he'll be very tough to beat.
magee was ****in shite 2nite.... he should call it a day after tat crap performance...brutally bad:good
Brian is a class act and a true pro. I, too, hope that he calls it a day, but he's been nothing but a credit to irish boxing since he was an amateur.
Couple more big fights in him I reckon. Before tonight he lost 2 of his last 15 fight - against Froch and Bute. I think he could still headline a few massive shows in Belfast. He would still be undoubtedly brilliant at Euro level. Retirement after one bad showing (tonight) would be rushed IMO...
