It was a steady win for Degale tonight, thought he looked pretty good tbh. Maybe with Bute probably losing to Froch in the rematch and Degale climbing the rankings, do you think they could meet late next year in an eliminator? I think Degales movement could give Bute nightmares, but if Degale decides to fight on the ropes it could soon by game over. Could be a cracking fight. What do you guys reckon?
It would be a bit of a mismatch. No way is Degale in Butes league. Degale is okay but at the moment he's a good step behind the likes of Bute and Abraham and I can't see that changing for next year.
As it stands, Bute would handle Degale fairly easily. Have to see how Bute copes with the Froch rematch and how much it takes out of him. Degale would have to step it up a fair bit, I haven't seen his performance tonight but the last couple of outings haven't impressed me, especially on the ropes. He just seems to switch off a lot in fights. Can see him having problems beyond Euro level. Perhaps a change of trainer or maturity will benefit him a lot, but a year on (late 2013) I'd pick Bute if it did happen.
good points. A lot depends on Degales improvement and Butes possible decline. But I feel Degale will have a real chance by then.
If Bute takes the Froch rematch he'll finish up being just a name to go on Degale's record. If he's wise he'll wipe Froch from his memory and a fight with Degale would be really interesting.
Its essentially a harsh summary of what the pair of them do. Both love trying it from the ropes too. The fight might end up with DeGale and Bute on the ropes at the opposite ends of the ring waiting for that countering chance.
i fort degale looked good 2 nite. 2 early 4 bute. But end of nxt year if he continues who knows wer he cud end up
Personally i think Bute would batter De Gale, DG is way too open offensively, he loops his shots from long range and Bute would exploit this, they are similar fighters in that they are south paw's, they are short combination punchers and both have loose defensive skills, but Bute does everything De Gale does a tad better IMHO, I think De Gale would be beaten up and only his whiskers saving him from a TKO / KO loss
Bute would execute him. DeGale is ridiculously easy to back up, even though he seems to be able to take a decent shot. His problem is that after all this time, he still doesn't actually know his identity as a fighter. It's one thing coming forward smacking around those bums that Allegedly fed to him, whereas since Groves picked his pockets he's tried boxing off the back foot much more - against that Polish fella he was hit with some hard shots that he ought to have seen a mile off. Sacking Jimmy Mc might not actually help.... sometimes the answer has to come from within, not sure there is one in his case, he's just not that good. He'll beat fighters of a certain level routinely because of his awkwardness, but those who can take the play away from him ought to have their hand raised at the end.
