Either Pac's chin is gone or Marquez is now a superhuman puncher

Pacquiao's punch resistance has probably faded some, but he also didn't see either shot coming and both shots had Marquez's full body weight behind them. The first one didn't seriously hurt Manny though it did drop him hard because Manny was on the back foot at the time. The second shot was more damaging by far because Manny walked into the shot. And while Marquez has hit Manny with some very good shots over their series, those two I believe were the hardest, cleanest two shots he'd ever landed on him.

You can't know to much about boxing with a thread title like this. Or possibly not been watching boxing long enough or Marquez to understand Marquez has ALWAYS been a great box puncher. Watch what Marquez did to Medina with pin point laser guided accuracy and then come back and tell me this guy couldnt punch.

Yup. A combination of throwing with bad intentions, having built up for power in camp, and landing with perfect accuracy at the most opportune times produced that kind of result.

They didn't call him Dinamita for his ring smarts, I'll tell you that much.

Pacquiao's not suddenly china-chinned, he was just hit right on the button. Paul Williams had it happen, John Ruiz had it happen, Khan had it happen, Lewis had it happen. The list goes on and on and on. Hit someone just right and they go down. No-one is invincible in this sport.

It's not so hard to believe when you realize this isn't the first time it's happened.

he never saw that counter right, similar to Sergio KO'ing PW, Williams never saw the punch that KO'd him

I thought that Pac looked better than he had in years. He was fast and his footwork was great again. He got caught by a guy who has improved his power by incorporating a new strength and conditioning program.

This for me. The KO punch was perfectly timed and Pac was lunging in, so it's the kind of punch where anyone with decent punching power could knock out anyone else if they pulled it off.

But that 1st KD, damn.. Pac practically flew back, that had a lot of power in it. I remember thinking at that point that JMM definitely packed a stronger punch than Pac tonight.

This was more like timing and angle(created by good Positioning).

Yeah but the OP has a point, Marquez' punches haven't had that sort of effect before. That first knockdown showed that Marquez was working with some improved power, he practically knocked Pac into the air with that shot.
