Anybody notice the 3rd round knockdown was identical to a move from the 1st fight?

The first knockdown Juan Manuel landed on Pacquiao was set up the exact same way that he first stunned Manny in the first fight. He came forward, getting low as he often does, feinting to throw a left hand downstairs, causing Manny to drop his hand and focus his eyes downwards, and as he was doing so, instead of throwing a straight right, Juan threw a very looped overhand that landed right on Pacquiao's face at an angle he couldn't see coming. He landed this in the third fight as well, but it was even more identical to the shot they've replayed over and over from fight 1. I suppose this time, JMM was throwing with more bad intention and landed squarely on Pac's jaw.

Can anybody post one or both GIF's?

Yep it was the same shot he hit him in the 3rd fight too. Except he never hurt him like that in the past which doesn't make alot of sense to me.

Great reference. The difference I think was the amount of leverage into it.

    We see three different reactions.

Fight 1: The move stuns/hurts Manny, but he stays upright.
Fight 3: Manny takes the move well, eats the shot and seems fine.
Fight 4: Manny gets dropped, doesn't seem hurt once he's up again.

I think I remember Manny kind of being caught in the air; at the very least he was off balance.

    Yeah I saw it too.
But that's not the only reason for the knockout.
It's already their 4th fight but it seems many didn't notice how the fight went through.

I'll make my thread later on. Tell you guys how this fight happened (or how their 4 fights turned out to be that way)

BRB, got to go to the party
    Gratz to Marquez btw :good

I think the lack of S&C had something to do with it too, also their strategy coming in, was to KO Marquez so he was more offensively minded.

Manny said he didn't see the punch and he walked into it. That makes all the difference.

that was the KO punch, I think we're talking about the 3rd round KD.

That KD was insand, Pac practically flew back from the force.. although I think he was in the process of leaping back from a punch? I'm not sure...

Oops, my mistake. There was a huge amount of force in that punch, but Pacquiao didn't look terribly hurt, at least not as hurt as Marquez looked when his legs got stiff. I think a lot of it has to do with balance.

Right, he was more knocked over than he was knocked down. That's why I thought he might have been caught in the air. Looked fine once he got up.

Yeah, a good combination of balance and the punching power JMM was packing (sort of reminded me of that Rocky movie where Rocky was basically told "screw speed, go for punching power" when he was training )

If anything the KD in the 5th was more a knock down since it really stunned Marquez.

Which was why I was feeling more confident in Manny's chance provided he didn't get careless and walk into something big

I hadnt noticed that actually but what I did notice was the similarities between this KO and Pac's old KO... I tried looking for a gif but couldn't find one. Both had Pac leaning in right into the punch and getting rocked. Props to anyone that can find a gif of it. Heres a gif of today's KO to compare it with.

Did anyone else think that Pac's footwork had improved last night, in comparison to his last few bouts?

Really? I thought that knockdown was ****ing brutal and was surprised how quickly Pac recovered from it. If anything, I thought that Pac's knockdown was pretty weak compared to the ones Marquez landed. It was from a Pac jab as Marquez was coming in and threw him off his stance if my memory is right (not saying it wasn't a legit knockdown, but compare the damage with that one and the other two).

I think Pacquiao's KD on Marquez was the more "knock over" as pacquiao basically tripped juan with his leg after landing the left and juan even kept himself up with his hand

Pacquiao's lights were turned out for a split second from the 3rd rd KD, he dropped like a sack of spuds and was seriously hurt for about 30 seconds after
