This is why I'm waiting on Khan and really why I feel like it would be a shame if he were lost potential.

Also why do people think Khan is cocky? I think he's PR Asif Vali does a poor job of telling his fighter to choose his words. He is an idiot but he doesn't come off as cocky to me. He seems really humble and more of a role modedl for younger kids. I wouldn't want my son to see a Garcia or Mayweather talking at a press confrence over someone like ODH or Khan

    Angel Garcia*

    Danny doesn't say much...

And yes I agree. Khan isn't the brightest bulb... I expect ego from all boxers.

The 2004 Olympic silver medallist’s deal with Sky Sports TV will be in doubt if he fails to catapult himself back into world title contention with a victory over the American.

Khan said: “One of the main reasons I came to Virgil was *because I think he is one of the best defensive trainers in the world.

“You will see a new Amir Khan in this fight and it is going to make things much easier in the ring. It’s *going to be boxing smart.

“Before, I didn’t think. I just followed my heart and kept throwing punches. Once you do that you can get caught with blows.

“I’m being more smart about things and taking the right shots at the right time.

“That prevents me from getting hit or caught with silly shots and getting into wars when I don’t need to get into wars.

“I think part of it is just being smart now, not making mistakes.

“Even if you make it boring, a win is a win.”

Khan admits he may extend his career beyond the age of 28 and for the moment has no interest in stepping up to welterweight to face Sheffield rival Kell Brook.

He said: “When I’m 28 I’ve always said I would retire – but we will see how my body is. At the moment I feel young, fresh and hungry.

“It’s so easy at the moment to make light-welterweight. I was going to move up to welterweight because there was nothing left for me at light-welterweight but now there are a few fights and titles to be won again.

“I think naturally I’m not big enough to be at welterweight yet but I’ll know when the right time is to do that.”

Who posted that photo? You're not usually allowed filming or photos of sparring.

Khan tends to lose that power when he makes weight.

Someone tweeted it but then deleted the tweet afterwards... I thought it be good to share. Now iron_chin has made a whole new thread on this one photo. It's really sad tbh.

I want Molina to showcase his talents as if he gives a good showing then I'm sure networks will pick him up for his next fights. Always cheer for the underdog.

Amir Khan's new trainer Virgil Hunter believes the 26-year-old's old coach Freddie Roach must take some of the blame for Khan's most recent defeat to Danny Garcia - calling into question Roach's skills after his main client, Manny Pacquiao, was also beaten at the weekend.
Pacquiao was knocked out in stunning fashion against Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday evening in Las Vegas, in a performance that may have given Roach flashbacks of Khan's surprise defeat to Danny Garcia back in July.
The loss led the Bolton fighter to part ways with Roach, eventually pairing with dominant super-middleweight Andre Ward's guru Virgil Hunter in a bid to reignite his career. And Hunter is adamant poor coaching and management played a significant role in the Garcia loss.
"At the initial press conference, Garcia Sr got up and said some things that were enough to rile Amir and at that point, someone should have interceded," Hunter said.
"I would have got up and I would have interceded. If you take notice of that stuff you can lose focus.
"In the fight itself, Amir got up from a devastating punch - that punch would have put down any 140lb fighter. But Amir got back up and survived the third round.
"At that point a set of instructions should have been given to him to survive the next round. You are looking at a kid who can win five or six rounds in a row."
Khan is preparing to make his return to the ring against Carlos Molina this weekend, and Hunter does not believe he will need to rebuild the former Olympic medallist's confidence after his recent setbacks.
"I believe he could have got through that fight [against Garcia] so I really don't see where his confidence would be shattered like that," he added.
"If he had taken a beating and then got knocked out we might have had a confidence problem. But that wasn't the case and I am very pleased with his confidence level going into this fight.
"We are talking about an exceptional fighter but you can't lay it all on Khan over what happened in the last fight - it is a team effort."

The media can be right ****s with the way they portray comments. The above gives off the impression Virgil is criticising Roach following another defeat of his fighter, when in fact those comments were made before Pacquiao even lost. And even then, regarding the Khan loss, he's not taking a dig at Roach. He's just saying what he would have done. That's all.

ikr they even changed the second half of what Khan said about Roach... he actually said he's doing a good job day in and out going on the mitts with all these fighters etc. Accurate record keeping/journalism seems to have gone out the window.
