Amusingly, there are some idiots who will agree with this post! But at least it's better than the one which said that Pac won 8 titles in 8 divisions out of extreme luck!:good

Manny Pacquiao turned pro at 16 years old, he has fought 61 times and faced the best. He beat JMM 2x drew with him once and lost to him 1x. Pacquiao is an ATG, Floyd ducked him and yes he fought one fighter who was very hard for him to beat. styles make fights and in 61 fights Pac found one man who he struggled to beat.

The thing is PAC tried to fight whoever was in front of him. So sooner or later you'll find someone you can't beat which is different from someone who picks his opponents just to stay undefeated.

    Don't know mate.

Hasn't Floyd done the same thing? Pac was only 16 when he turned pro. Didn't Floyd weigh about that as a 16 year old?

    Obviously you can.
Or are the likes of Morales, Barrera not the best fighters in the world at the time?

Hardly a cherry pick. It was the Fourth fight between two guys that have been almost impossible to separate in their previous 3 fights.

Nobody other then die hard Pacquiao fans and casuals ever claimed Manny was some sort of smooth operator. People got excited when he started using two arms in a boxing match for crying out loud, so none of his flaws is any sort of news to dedicated boxing fans and students. Pacquiao has always been a guy with fast hands and great fighting spirit and the last time I checked there is no rule on what style you are allowed to bring to the dance, as long as it's effective (which it clearly was/is) then it's all good.

It is Pacquiao's fighting spirit and personality that captivated fans around the world and it's pretty easy to undertstand. People like to get behind and cheer for athletes that they like and can identify with, they don't just cheer for textbook technique and records.

If anything Manny's skill is somewhat underrated considering I read about his rapid decline and horrid footwork, almost on a daily basis. Given his flaws, his accomplishments in his career are even greater considering a master counter puncher that had him figured out no less, needed 4 fights to put this amateurish fighter on the canvas. :huh

So congratulations, you just exposed the truth to maybe a handful of youngsters out there and their mothers.

If you give someone smart enough tries, there is a chance he might figure you out.

Rewatched the fight and as I stated in another thread, but this one is more relevant. Pacquiao was still sloppy and left his chin opened too much. Marquez was landing the more cleaner, harder punches before the KO. Marquez won the series period. Pacquiao had 3 fights to learn Marquez and the game plan the camp comes up with is careless aggressiveness with a counter puncher (who also had 3 fights to learn Pacquiao)? He was asking for that KO then.

On the other hand, Marquez had a whole different game plan. Work on strength and rely on his straight right to knock a carelessly aggressive Pacquiao out so it won't go to the scorecards. I mean, the result didn't really surprise me. Hard to see Pac like that, but it was coming to him.

Both guys want to knock each other out: 1 of them is the sloppy, double jab-straight left guy and the other one is the beefed-up counter puncher with ring intelligence. Who would you pick?

The Pac who fought DLH would've walked through JMM on Saturday (I don't if DLH was a zombie, Pac's boxing was very impressive). That was a more controlled, technical Pac who relied on his speed, footwork and feints to control the fight in the middle of the ring.

No point for a Pac-JMM V, because Pac doesn't and hasn't improved between their fights.

styles make fights. pacquiao was #1 for a long time for a reason. not a technical genius but enough to get him past morales, barerra, even with marquez 3 times, etc

dont be an idiot, its people like you that ruin boxing

totally agree, when I watch and re-run pacman fights over the last few years you cant belive how he gets away with some of the reckless lunges. any seasoned othodox fighter who is quick enough and smart enough will always look to get his leading foot on the outside of the southpaw stance to open up the southpaw. marquez did this effectively over and over but pacman kept falling into the same mistake and paid the ultimate price. good timing always beats power and speed.
Paquiao has always and will always stuggle against technically gifted opponents.

I'm pissed off with Floyd. We all knew he'd beat Pacquiao but he was too scared to lose his 0 to take on the challange. You can blame Arum, money, drug testing or the colour of their shorts.

If both fighters had wanted it enough - it would of happened. They didn't, so it didn't.
