http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/boxing-towers-pulls-perforated-eardrum-174138835.html Apparently he has a perforated eardrum, what do you all think? I never thought this fight would happen and in the end it hasn't. I have a feeling Maloney might have gave Hatton a ring about Towers being next for Price. This is all my own guessing like.
I know, the replacement fight isn't as interesting at all. Didn't he say they don't have boxing in Hong Kong regularly though? Still worth going I suppose.
I think that you might well be right....the immediate announcement about a top line American being Prices next opponent doesn't seem to have materialised. Towers would be an awful opponent and even a step down from Skelton, it would devalue the Lonsdale belt in my view if this fight took place.
Seriously hope this isn't true,Maloney ... ruining Price and his career one fight at a time! And people wonder why people are beginning to favour Fury in terms of the better brit HW prospect. Fair enough he's undefeated etc but he's bloody awful (Towers).Price won't learn anything in a fight with him.
Yep... Mismatch has been on the phone. Given that Towers has a pretty looking record, and that the Board will approve practically anyone, it's a cert.
There's been some talk about him facing that Pianeta fella as a defence of his nonsense euro belt as well.
Cant really see Towers as an opponent for Price. One thing,he hasnt earned it,the other would the Ingles consider it at this stage??Its supposed to be on TV tonight, will it still be on and if so what is the replacement, anyone??
Plus, the only way I can see it happening is if Richard intends to retire and wants a decent payday, which I doubt very much as in his interviews he is a realistic guy although with some ambition and wants to go as far as he can.A Price fight at this stage would surely defeat the object IMO.
Still on with Browne fighting Jason Gavern. Considering they had less than a weeks notice, not a bad replacement, could be worse. Not sure how they managed that:think
:good I suspected this would happen as soon as Tony Thompson was 'announced'. I don't think it ever had much substance and was probably just used as a way of negating the flak Maloney/Price were getting for Skelton whilst Fury was fighting Johnson ... so they could say 'hey, we have our own top ranked American David will fighting in a couple of months - Tyson is no futher ahead'. Except it was most likely utter fabrication. I certainly favour Fury over Price in every sense, but not so much that I want to see Price's career ruined at the hands of Maloney. Price is now becoming like Deontay Wilder if this 'fight' materialises. It is either Maloney is clueless and no longer has any power to make significant fights, or he has huge misgivings of putting Price in with anyone resembling a live body. Odd :?
