Seriously now, Ricky Burns doesnt duck anybody, at least I dont think. And Billy says the same. IMO He just isnt getting the fights he deserves and more importantly needs, thats all.

The :tired casuals in the US, will just think Burns is ducking everyone though.

It turns out Ricky couldn't make the fight anyway, he's got a split shift at JJB Sports that day.

Besides, word on the street is that Matthews is training for a 'Stumpy' Chinnock rematch. He needs to be 100% ready for the best breather in the sport.

 

Its probably good for Derry not to take the fight. Only Brian Magee has more of a glass body from what I've seen and Burns whips in some nasty left hooks downstairs. It wouldn't have lasted long

 

Derry is a very fine fighter and a friend,I personally wouldn't of liked to have seen the two fight and wish Derry all the best:good

Obviously that is relative to boxers on Derrys level in th UK

 

15 grand might be the going rate for someone like Derry fighting someone at the level that he's currently at.....Difference is he's not fighting someone on his level, he'd be fighting a "world champion" and would almost certainly lose, he'd also be saving the card, that deserves a hefty premium
