Does anyone else think Rigondeaux will lose this weekend?

I have to say this fight fascinates me.
I agree with the points raised here though. Rigo should be able to hit and move all night.
A prime Rigondeaux would be able to take the punches from almost anyone but from Rigo at this stage of Poonsawats career I am not sure. I don't think Poonsawat has ever hit the canvas and he has come in really battle hardened. He likes to walk through his opponents so as Brikhause pointed out this style is tailor made for Rigondeaux.

The only thing is this. If Poon was to land on Rigondeaux clean, I think he legitimately will be the hardest hitter Rigo has face so far. It's unlikely, so I favour Rigo strongly but if he does land, he will put Rigo down.

Rigo wins with ease on paper, but with that fragile glass jaw of his you never know, Poon could very well surprise us all.

Poonsawat isn't particularly fast of hand or fleet of foot, and he can be outboxed for long stretches at a time. But he's tough as leather, hits damned hard, and once he finds his desired range, he does a very good job of staying there.

Rigo should be able to potshot his way to a victory, but I suspect Poon will be pressuring every step of the way, regardless of how thoroughly he's outboxed. And given Chacal's occasional lapses in focus, that makes it interesting because he just can't afford to make a mistake against a guy like this.

 

Agree with this. Also, Poon has pop, but not enough to really hurt Rigo with one or two shots. Remember when Marroquin hurt him, Rigo virtually teleported to the other side of the ring and went into an impenetrable shell until he recovered. In the event that Poon does touch him, he'll just do that.

Also, Poon is a better athlete and quicker than some give him credit for, but he just doesn't push from outside to close range fast enough. He'll spend enough time at medium range for Rigo to land some big shots on him while Poon is unable to reach Rigo.

To much stock is being taken from marroquin stunning him. He wasn't in shape and it showed.

 

If you think Rigondeaux is an accident waiting to happen then obviously that's also how he won his " 2 " Olympic Gold medals and his " multiple " World Championships. Amateur or not, he never got knocked out or down. Rigo will beat this Poon guy and keep on defending his WBA belt for a long time to come just as he did in the amateurs.

 

Poonsawat is much better than Marroquin, though.

 

I've lost faith in Gamboa but I'll keep it for Rigo. Admittedly I don't know much about his opponent but I think Rigo has the goods for anyone.
