He had a good career, even though he lost to the truly elite. His skills were underrated, especially before he started to move up in weight. He was in exciting fights and was a fan favorite for all the right reasons. He is more respected, and will be remembered moreso than Naz. His fan base rivals Naz's. He symbolically represented everything that boxing should be. He died tragically and before his time. Makes perfect sense. Hamed will get his day.

That's a massive insult to Hamed, who was a true world class fighter and a dominant featherweight for his career.

Donald Curry isn't in? wtf? I know his peak was short, but it was fantastic.

Naz retired years ago and is till talked about on here all the time. Sometimes good, sometimes bad but he's still discussed.

True, but he's discussed just as often for his mouth, and for being over rated (somewhat unfairly), his arrogance, and for a lot of "what if's". Remembered negatively by some, and regarded highly by others. Gatti is remembered mostly for all the positives, and was everything right in the sport, regardless if he was limited (also somewhat unfairly). I never said Naz isn't discussed, I said Gatti will be remembered more........outside of the UK might have been something to add. Nevertheless, the Prince will likely get in, but it's not a shame or a scandal to have Gatti in first when you look at the details.

I didn't like Naz,but his talent was unquestionable, and if Gatti is a first ballot then Naz should be in.I asked the other day if it was possible that Naz's antics at the MAB fight might be an issue, and although I don't think it's anything like the primary reason for his absence,I wonder if it may be in the back of some panel members' minds.

This Gatti business is ridiculous. As a first ballot entry,to an outsider or new fan it would look as if Arturo's on the same level as Hearns,Leonard et al.
I keep saying it,but they should've started a special induction in his honour to specify that the induction is for entertainment value and/or courage in the ring.
There are far lesser fighters than Hamed in there, and being an annoying **** shouldn't be grounds for exclusion, just as box office appeal and extraordinary courage should not guarantee first ballot entry.

Hamed will get inducted, despite what haters say he had an ATG gift in the ring, the likes we wont see again.

If he was from North America he would be seen as a total legend but due to him being a British Arab, not so much.

Hamed should be in. He brought so much excitement to the sport of boxing. His style was beautiful, I haven't seen a style like it. He made a lot of money for the sport and a lot of media attention. There would be HUGE events whenever he went to Yemen, was close with the Arab royal families etc. Every era has a KO artist in their division...Hamed was the KO artist.

He needs to be in the hall of fame. However, he's Arab + outspoken....so many may just assasinate his career on this basis.

Gatti was a humble caucasian action fighter....also an American who died tragic America always roots for the underdog or overrated them whereas dominant ethnic fighters who are cocky received not as many accolades or positive press in their time even though they were better than most. For example Roy Jones Mayweather and Hamed get shafted for their personality....not what they have done in the ring.....but likeable less dominant action fighters get revered like marciano Gatti and tszyu
