Very.......very hard one to call. I can see Holmes outboxing Louis over the distance, but I can also envisage Louis catching up with his man sometime after the tenth round.

Holmes was somewhat of a sucker for a right hand...and if Renaldo Snipes could do it...

UD loss for Holmes. He could frustrate Louis and nobody ever knocked Holmes out expect prime Tyson.

And that was a Holme's w/ faded reflexes as well. I won't rule out a KO when Joe louis is involved, because if he lands just right I beleive he can crack any nut. But I would say a KO is one of the more unlikely scenerios...or at least that it is not the more likely outcome.

Holmes is skilled enough that he should be able to last the distance, and with his reach advantage and perhaps the best jab in HW history he is going to make things close and uncomfortable...

I like Louis on the cards, perhaps by a round or 2...but Larry is a live dog, and both men would clearly be the best the other has ever faced!

Similar to above, when Louis is involved, a Ko cannot be counted out, esp with Holmes weakness for a good right hand. However i dont see Holmes wearing out after 5/6 rounds, especially not against someone as flat flooted as Louis.

The Tyson fight was different, Tyson hunted Holmes down and Holmes was old

Holmes said of Tyson 'He hits very hard and hes very hard to hit, that makes it a bad combination (for Spinks)'

I see this as more of a chess match, with Holmes footwork and fluidness helping him come out as the victor.

Louis by KO with an assorted variety of power punches started off by a crunching short right hand that drops Larry like a sack of cement

Louis by knockout, around the 9th. Holmes' footwork is over-rated, his defense isn't great. Louis would eventually find him and put and end to the contest.

    Poor argument.

He was not a "sucker for a right hand." He got dropped twice in his reign by right hands. Other than that, he was actually rather hard to hit cleanly, particularly if you wanted to land combinations on him. Holmes was great at suffocating attacks when the heat became a little much. Louis, in his prime, was dropped more frequently by the same punch you parrot as Holmes' kryptonite.

Holmes was cautious against punchers, and would be here, too. This is a very tough fight for Louis. I also don't think we can assume it ends by KO.

Louis was dropped far more than Holmes was in total, and more times by right hands...
