Lads check out this war from last weekend in the WSB, between Willie McLoughlin and some lad from Ukraine, Hope Willie turns pro with Matchroom in March as there is an offer there I think I read, think he would make a great pro, the vid says Gojan v Simpson but it is McLoughlin . Dean Byrne ready to fulfil his potentail- targets Paul McCloskey and titles in 2013 http://www.irish-boxing.com/2012/12/dean-byrne-is-back-to-his-best-and-targets-mccloskey-in-2013/ intermediate championships finals draw http://www.irish-boxing.com/2012/12/intermediate-championships-final-draw/ Solid Dispaly but dissapointing result for Paddy Murphy on Hatton Card in China http://www.irish-boxing.com/2012/12/solid-performance-disappointing-result-for-murphy-in-china/
I think Byrne could beat Lenny daws or mcloskey after Saturdays display probably a few fights before fighting mcloskey but he showed he's got the skills
Get byrne mccloskey on in feb Start of big things for byrne while finishin things up for mccloskeys ehos been fairly dirt of late
Maby a bit 2 soon 1 or 2 fights then mcloskey but the daws fight is perfect for him all I can say is I can't wait to see him fight again with a training camp behind him
Well the judges were closely split and watching the rounds closely he lost because one judge went against him on a round he clearly won. The WSB is scored like amature boxing-without the buttons- not like the pros. The 5 rounds, 10 point must, and no headgear/singlet give an illusion of pro boxing but it's still amature scoring. BTW I agree with you that under pro scoring the Serb would have won clearly and also that JJN WOULD PROBABLY STRUGGLE AT THE top of the pro game. However we should bear in mind that Nevin is boxing at 61 kg despite boxing at 54 a bit over a year ago.
One thing about Dean Byrne, if he worked on his strength and conditioning more I think he could he really complement those skills. If he had savage fitness he would catch a lot of people out. If he fought Andy Murray right now I honestly think it would be like the Gavin Rees fight. Byrne would have too much skill initially but then Murray would catch up later on in the fight. Where as if Byrne was in the shape of his life he could win a shut out.
