Round 2

Cusolito jabs into Marquez's gloves, then over his head. Marquez darts in low, and misses a hook to the body. 1-4 by Cusolito, the uppercut leaving Marquez an angle to dip and rise up into Cusolito's chest and just miss a hook. Cusolito begins to slam over the top with his right hand behind the jab, missing as Marquez circles in close and hunkers down low. Marquez moves side to side and then ties up as Cusolito continues his overhand barrage. Marquez slips a few jabs with rightward leans, lowering his left arm to let them careen up past his shoulder. Cusolito doubles his jab with a wrist-flick, coming forward as Marquez performs lateral hops from one foot to the other. Marquez tries a right to the body but gets stuffed as Cusolito pushes down on his head. Wild flurry by Cusolito, getting a few touches (a couple of them rabbit punches) but mostly missing.

Round 3

Marquez immediately ties up. Nice stiff triple jab by Marquez after they break. Cusolito circles away at a diagonal angle, toward a corner, and rolls over the top with a measuring right hand. Marquez leaps in with a hook but gets caught in midair, placed still in front of Cusolito with his biceps in his clutches, and chased back by a 1-2. Marquez circles in close, moving left, and slipping Cusolito's long jab which seems to lose effectiveness at finding short range targets. Cusolito drops a right hand behind the jab and catches Marquez on the side of the neck, dropping him instantly to his hands and knees. Judgment call scenario. The ref decides to rule it a knockdown. Marquez shakes off his disorientation and faces the ref in a neutral corner, nodding that he's ready to go. Marquez blocks a 1-2, and dives in to grab but gets his face brushed over by a sweeping hook, almost making him lose his grip on Cusolito. Jabs and big long roundhouse rights by Cusolito coming forward. Marquez backs up and circles left, holding the left cocked for a counter hook. Cusolito unloads a right hand into his path and nearly drops Marquez again, making him involuntarily squats and place his gloves out palm-down...but he doesn't touch down and manages to catch his balance with a spring of his knees. Cusolito puts huge uppercuts and overhands alternately behind his jab, menacing Marquez against the ropes. Marquez is able to wriggle free and sidle up against Cusolito to clinch. SUDDENLY MARQUEZ MOUNTS A RALLY! BIG LINE DRIVE RIGHTS TO THE HEAD!! Cusolito is backed up across the ring. Marquez is relentlessly pressing the attack, having completely seized the momentum.

Round 4

Cusolito lobs a lazy right hand without jabbing first, and Marquez easily ducks over to slip it. Marquez darts in and jabs the body repeatedly, as Cusolito tries to axe him with the overhand right on the way in. Marquez circles in close, turned askew, and hooks at Cusolito's chest. They clinch. Marquez starts to crowd in low on Cusolito but performs a bicycle pedal to stop in his tracks and ease off, leaving Cusolito lunging with straight shots from off the ropes. Marquez circles in with a straight right to the jaw, then darts out again beyond Cusolito's reach. Hard clapping right up top by Marquez while burying his chin to his chest and hurtling in. Cusolito clinches as Marquez scores with this same sequence again. Marquez is now literally jumping in off his toes throwing straight combos in midair. Cusolito paws with his jab while getting backed up to the ropes, then skidding along them to evade Marquez. Marquez slips to the canvas. Cusolito was throwing a body shot as he began tumbling. No knockdown. They trade hooks.

Round 5

Marquez plows in with a diving right to the body. Cusolito huffs forcibly and doubles over atop him. The ref asks for a break. Marquez hooks the body and gets tied up. Left hook between the gloves and a wide-traveling right hand from the port connect as Cusolito stands straight up. Cusolito tries a long jab as Marquez circles back out to mid-range. Flailing rights over the top behind the jab from Cusolito, missing as Marquez ducks in to hold. Marquez jumps in with a left hook lead, scoring, and follows through with a right to the jaw at full velocity. Down goes Cusolito! Flat on his back, legs up. He draws himself together and assures the ref he's clear-minded, but then WALKS IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, toward his corner, not even looking at Marquez. He must have thought the round was over, and it's barely at the halfway point. Marquez sprints toward him and crashes his right fist into the side of Cusolito's head, unseen from his periphery! The ref waves it off!

Martinez, sort of sauntered into it.

I'm not sure he knows who Maidana is. :blood

He seems totally relaxed and unworried.

The last time I said that about an unheralded opponent was re: Sergio Thompson before he battered Jorge Linares. :think
