Seriously, Darni? Has it never occured to you that their gameplans may have been correct, and that it's Khan himself that's the problem? I mean, was it Rubio that told him to go war with a banger with a 80% plus knockout ratio after being floored only in the last fight by a featherweight? Was it Roach that told him to throw an uppercut that far out of range and get clipped by a left-hook which had been swinging all night?

I think Angulo was pounding him and Khan was looking bad/desperate slugging back with him. Forward to 21:40

Look at that bloke in the black sitting down on the left. He looks over to his peoples with a bemused/surprised look on his face with what he was seeing. Could be just edited in or whatever, but even by the sound of Virgil's voice and his thoughts when Khan came back, it's clear Khan wasn't impressing anyone there.

Well, it's just what he needs. Like Virg says, no one will pressure him as hard as Angulo would. Sparring with Mayfield would really have helped, too. That kid is pretty nuts in there as well.

that's the way i see it. khan is going to get stuck in a place in between, not here or there and in the end will revert back to type. It was telling, just from listening to the few bits of audio with the sparring with Perro. "ya wrekless man" "amir think, think, be smart" this is khan.

he can't be smart slick fighter with old school moves. he only knows his in out style and covering up. and fighting fire with fire. Molina might mot be a puncher, but i think he can upset khans gameplan to remain "smart". and be ause hunter will drill into khan not to revert to type. khan will be left exposed without being able to fight how he has since he was a kid and having his brain implode with all those new things hunter has "taught" him.

i think they should have gone with a lesser opponent altogether, just to practice these new things.

on the actual behind the ropes show, i thought it was brilliant. much better thanhbo 24/7 shows. the background music and birgils voice were perfect too, giving off that old school vibe, show did a good job of hyping what is in reality a low profile fight

Of course BUT you know that's not my beef. My main issue is those that think Khan will prove he's a 'new fighter' after beating said opponent.

How are you Ice? Been a while chum :good

Mate, George Benton himself wouldn't be able to make Khan as good as you want him to be.

Good post. Which is why I believe Molina ain't that bad of an opponent to come back to. Well, not from the few clips I've seen of him. He's a short, snappy puncher that can work well close up. So it'll be interesting if he can make Khan revert to his old self.

And yes, Behind the Ropes is an excellent show. Better than HBO's 24-7 and right up there with Showtime's Fight Camp 360 and All Access. I've only watched the Khan segments, but they were very well put together. I especially enjoyed the part where Virgil was talking about coward spectators not understanding what it is to be a fighter, and the contrasting sparring audios towards the end did a beautiful job of portraying the massive job ahead of overhauling Khan's style.

Na mate I clearly know his limitations, its time he does too, dont try to be something your not e.g Roach trying to make him out as a puncher when he is a weak/average chin fast hands boxer, stick with that and round off around this style.

'It is difficult to defend Khan, whose boxing was rebuilt by Roach around the fastest and most hurtful left jab in his division and, as someone who suffered his share of stoppage losses towards the end of his own career, Roach has constantly advised Khan to engage an opponent only when he is comfortable the returning traffic is not a threat. Before the Garcia fight, I watched him tutor Khan diligently on avoiding the Californian's left hook – the very punch that led to his downfall.'

    Not surprised.

It's one thing telling a guy what to do, it's another thing showing him how to it. Roach is a great trainer but Khan was probabily in the wrong environment.

Oh and last i heard Garcia was from Philly.
